What Your Favorite Winter Drink Says About You

I consider myself more of a decaf mocha latte kind of girl...

What Your Favorite Winter Drink Says About You

I have always loved the taste of coffee, but only certain flavors. Ever since I was old enough to be approved by my parents to actually drink it, it’s always been my go-to move for a midday ‘snack,’ if you will. You can pretty much catch me drinking up to four cups of each a day; it’s pretty intense and makes me have to pee constantly all day.

The only downside is the caffeine; it doesn’t do well with my stomach in the slightest. I’m pretty much stuck with the decaffeinated option every time, which is merely just for the taste, but I’m definitely not complaining, as that is the whole benefit of my coffee endeavors. However, not every drink that I come across fits with what I’m looking for.

I’ve come to realize that I’m a very picky person when it comes to a beverage of choice. It’s an important decision to make in line at Starbucks during the day, or after dinner at a nice restaurant, or when studying for exams at Kaldi’s on campus. I’ve gone through some hit and misses when it comes to paying a solid four-six dollars for a taste that will last in your mouth for a few hours.

On a more general note, there is a specific type of person that best suits different flavors of coffee, tea, different forms of coffee, and all that jazz. Here are a few examples of what I label some of my favorite flavors depicting some personality traits.

Espresso

Okay, you can definitely handle your coffee. Strong. I’ve only ever had this type of coffee once in my life at Eataly in New York City. It’s some strong stuff. If you drink this on the daily, you’re definitely one wired, extremely hyper, long-day-ahead-of-you type of person. Props to you for being that bold go-getter. (If I could handle the caffeine, I would down this like water.) But you only get that flavor for a minimal amount of time since it’s so compact, so enjoy it while it lasts!

Iced Coffee

You’re a classic. Ideally, this is what you order for those walks to class, those hot summer days by the pool in the middle of July, or those days where you don’t exactly know what else to get so you go with the basics. Even in the winter, I usually get this one. Basic all year round? Sure, but I usually go with the decaf on this one and a bit of hazelnut. But hey, that's just me. Also, I only ever drink coffee black, so that’s another thing. If you drink iced coffee black, you’re a real show stopper. People may mistake this for very dark iced tea, but no, you’re in it for the real deal.

Caffé Mocha

You’ve hit the jackpot with this one. Greatly influence by my dad who is a bigger fan of it than I, I’ve come to the point of near obsession with this one. You really enjoy the sweet side of things. You look at the glass half full, but not necessarily full for long as you’ll down this in seconds. Who needs anything better in life than this? You probably will choose this after a bit of meandering around the menu, but you ultimately realize how much you want to treat yourself. Just do it, it’s good for the soul.

Cappuccino

You’re super fancy, and you’d like everyone to know that about you. After a long Friday, you go out to a nice dinner with your family, loved one, or friends, order a nice meal and save yourself from that chocolate cake. But you make up for it with that cappuccino, no matter what. Treat yo’self, go big or go home. Oooo, and if you’re really lucky, you’ll get a little cookie on the side, to make you feel welcome. You feel comfortable with this drink, and maybe even during the day if you’re up to it. Why not?!

Go on, coffee-lovers! Side tip: add a hint of cinnamon to your drink, it’ll add a lil’ spice in your life. :)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
