Have you ever seen or heard a quote and thought about the meaning behind it? Either from a movie, your favorite show, favorite song lyric, a book, or from a random Instagram post? Does it have a deep meaning? Is it a funny quote? Is it deep or sad? Does it remind you of someone or something from your past or now?

For me, quotes are everything. I watch a lot of TV as well as listen to a lot of music, so I live by quotes from TV or music. However, I love the ones I get from movies or TV (mostly from Disney movies). To me, the quotes have a lot of meaning when it comes to family or friendship or any kind of motivation or inspiration.

Some of my favorite quotes and their meaning for me are…

1. “Ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.” - Lilo and Stitch

Ohana

For me family is everything! For me, this means that no matter how badly you may disagree with family they are always going to be there for you no matter what. You should never turn your back on your family, they are the only ones who are going to be there for you truly.

2. “You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have a say in who hurts you.” -Augustus Waters (Fault in our Stars)

No matter what you do or how hard you try, you get hurt by people. You don't have any say in that, but you do get a say in who hurts you. Sounds weird right? But it's true, you get to choose the people you want to be in your life from friends to boyfriend and girlfriend. In one way or another, they will hurt you, but it's your choice in what you do after they hurt you.

3. “Sometimes people put up walls, not to keep people away, but to see who cares enough to tear those walls down.” -Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill)

For someone who has her walls up from her past, this quote means a lot to me. This is something that everyone looks for, they want people in their life who are willing to stay in their life regardless of what mistakes you make. Walls are put up for a reason and when the right people come along and knock them down, it shows you that they truly care for you.

4. “Some people are worth melting for.” -Olaf (Frozen)

Honestly, Olaf is my favorite character! This quote was said when Anna was surprised that Olaf was willing to melt to keep her warm in front of the fire. This shows that those who love you will be willing to do anything to make sure you're okay.

5. “You don’t have to change a thing the world can change its heart.” - Scars to Your Beautiful (Alessia Cara)

In today's society, everyone is so worried about what others think of them. In some way, it's like they are looking for the approval of others by what they post on their social media. For me, this song is a reminder that you don't have to wear fancy clothes, drive the expensive car or wear makeup for others to like you. Just be yourself and the right people will like you for who you are not who are trying to be.

6. “The time measure of friendship isn’t how you feel about someone else. It’s about how they make you feel about yourself.”

When making friends, it's usually with those who you have similar interests with. However, a true friendship is not how you feel about that person, maybe a little to do with that. But it has everything to do with how they make you feel about yourself. If they let you be yourself with no judgement then that is the greatest friendship ever.

7. “You think family’s supposed to make you feel good? Bake you an apple pie? They’re supposed to make you miserable! That’s why they’re family.” - Bobby (Supernatural)

Your family gets on your nerves, it's kind of their job right? Nevertheless, they are family and that is what it's all about. They are supposed to get under your skin, but at the end of the day, they are family you love them anyway. No matter how bad a fight gets or how much they annoy you, you forgive and move on. You only get one family.

8. “Family don’t end in blood.” - Bobby (Supernatural)

The people you call family is your choice! It's not just your actual family, but it can be your friends. I know I have a lot of family, literally, but for me, a lot of those I like to call family are those I call my friends.

9. “...forever is a long, long time and time has a way of changing things.” - Big Mama (Fox & the Hound)

This movie is all about friendship and how the two friends go through a lot of changes and overcome them, at least try to anyway. For me, this has a huge meaning for me! I am one who doesn't like change that much, but I have gone through a lot of changes. This quote is a reminder that you never know what will happen, those you call "Best friend forever" may not be forever and that's okay. You must learn from each change.

For me, finding meaning within a quote is fun. What's your favorite quote? What does it mean to you? Do you have more than one?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
