Nobody can resist a good coming of age flick or romantic comedy made in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. These movies have remained near and dear to everyone’s hearts, even as the years go by. I do not think I will ever feel too old to sit down with my friends and watch a good Hilary Duff or Mary-Kate and Ashley movie, and reminisce on how badly we wanted to be just like the characters in these movies, and how the way they dressed and acted had a strong influence on who we were when we were younger. With chokers, capri pants and wedge flip flops galore, the late ‘90s and early 2000s seem to be the golden age of movies for most of us college kids. Here are a few favorite, quality films from my childhood that I believe deserve some recognition.
Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Holiday in the Sun and Passport To Paris. These were the best two movies that Mary-Kate and Ashley ever made. In Holiday in the Sun, they are junior high students who get flown to the Bahamas for their winter break and meet some cute boys. In Passport to Paris, they are junior high students who get to spend spring break in Paris because their grandfather is the United States Ambassador to France, and they also meet some cute French boys and become best friends with a super model. All in all, I would say they led fairly glamorous lives and sported some pretty awesome outfits along the way.

A Cinderella Story. This is a true gem among the immense body of Hilary Duff’s work. This movie changed the lives of many 10 year old girls and kept their hearts pounding for Chad Michael Murray. The secret online relationship between Princeton Girl and Nomad led us all to have high aspirations in finding true love. Even though Sam waiting for Austin to realize he loved her was “like waiting for rain in this drought. Useless, and disappointing,” Cinderella got her Prince Charming and they jetted off to Princeton together to live happily ever after. Also, this movie’s soundtrack is seriously the best.(wigglegif.com)

The Princess Diaries. Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi, Princess of Genovia. This movie made every eight year old girl dream of a mysterious grandmother who comes out of the woodwork and tells her she was a princess. With the help of Pablo’s makeover and princess lessons from her grandmother, they were able to transform awkward, invisible, frizzy Mia with her bushman eyebrows, and make her a princess. Miracles happen, once in a while, when you believe.(rebloggy.com)
