A few weeks ago, my mom and I spent an afternoon cleaning out a hallway closet.
The closet was mostly filled with old linens and clothes that hadn’t quite made the journey to Goodwill; however, in the back, I noticed an old box stuffed with folders and sheets of colored paper. I hadn’t even known that my mom had kept any of it.
The box was filled with old school assignments that spanned from kindergarten to high school. After dragging the box out of the closet and finishing with the closet, I spent pretty much the better half of an hour looking through past school assignments that I had forgotten all about.
What really stood out to me was a hand turkey that I had made back when I was in kindergarten. The teacher had asked us to write out five things that we were thankful for and one of the things that I had wrote down was my family.
All though so much has happened since I was a little five-year-old, little has changed with the importance I have placed on my family. No matter what happens, I will always be thankful for everything my family has done for me and does for me every day.
