Nothing can beat the memories of Fall.

Why Fall Is The Best Season
Barbara Graff

Who doesn’t love fall? The smell of the fallen leaves, a hot chocolate warming up your hands, snuggling up under a warm blanket around a bonfire; it’s all something that someone has to experience.

Imagine yourself riding in the car up north with your family going down a winding road, the leaves that turned orange, red, purple, and yellow- it’s beautiful. Imagine standing under the Friday night lights rooting for your favorite team all layered up when your team gets the final winning touchdown, nothing can beat that moment.

School is finally starting, that means parents have the house to themselves and kids are so busy with school that they forget about the video games at home. It means the consumers bill is going to go down because you won’t be running the air conditioner all day. It means Starbucks is going run out of their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte and your going to start craving Dairy Queen’s Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. It means apple pies and pumpkin pies are going to be the most sold ingredients in the store. It’s harvest season; all the corn is coming off, the late wheat of fall, the beans, it’s a time of income for some families.

It means you get to pick out your Halloween costume or sewing it with grandma. It means that the local town festival is going to have their famous fries that day along with the best cotton candy and apple cider in the county. It means tailgates before football games and competitions of homecoming against the grades around you. Halloween brings us memories that will last a lifetime. From filling your bag with candy, trick-or-treating as a child, to competing in homecoming events against other grades, to having some Friday night fun at college, Halloween is a time of laughter and fun. It’s so exciting when the television company airs your favorite movies- Halloween Town, Twitches, Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, and any Stephen King movie of your liking. Halloween also brings haunted houses. Searching for the best one in the area and finally taking the trip to it is beyond fun. It’s exciting, nerve-racking, and scary to finish that maze of terror. Fall means covering your home with the scariest or cutest halloween and fall decorations- the light up pumpkin outside the door, the corn stalks wrapped around the columns outside.

It means waking up before dawn to get out to the woods before the deer are up and moving. It means waiting around all day in complete silence with only a few snacks before your big buck walks out and into your cross hares. It's the adrenaline rush before the kill and finally getting to show off the trophy you've achieved.

Fall is a time when it is warm enough to have bonfires but cold enough to cuddle up to your someone special. Fall is a time of layering up. You finally get to wear the knee high socks and the boots to keep your legs warm, your favorite sweater and jacket, along with the cutest hat in your closet. It means wearing leggings and an oversized sweatshirt with fuzzy socks to bed.

Fall means recruitment time for Greek life. Finally finding your home in an on campus and getting initiated into your is such an amazing experience. Finding relationships with people who have like minded interests and spending time competing in homecoming activities is something you don't want to miss out on. It means big and little reveal with fraternities or sororities, which is so exciting.

Another one of the best parts of fall are the cider mills and corn mazes. Although, as a kid I could never finish the corn mazes, they were always so much fun. Almost always the cider mills have warm and cold cider, a fresh bag of apples, caramel apples, hot chocolate, and freshly made donuts. It’s where you can pick out your favorite pumpkin and take it home to carve with your friends or family.

For college students, fall is a time of homecoming, tailgates, many hours for work, but also lots of family time. Homecoming is a time to compete against different grades or organizations to win the spirit stick. It's a time of pep rally's and corn hole, macho volleyball and powderpuff football, and so many other events. When Thanksgiving break hits, your either spending time shoving your face with food, watching the football game with your family, or putting those hours in at work, making money for Christmas around the corner.

Lastly, fall is also a time for Breast Cancer Awareness. Whether you've lost a loved one or they've beat cancer, it's always a remembrance time of love through this difficult period. It means sports will dedicate a game to playing for a loved one. The color pink becomes so popular during this time and people will start wearing shirts that say "Save Second Base" or other funny sayings that show that Breast Cancer is a real problem.

Either way, fall brings us so many memories and experiences to share with friends and family. Don’t miss out on all the things that fall brings.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
