As I look around nowadays, it seems as if everyone is feeling all a little bit too hopeless. Hopeless to society, hopeless to their loved ones, hopeless to themselves, hopeless to what the future holds for them. I will be honest, I have felt that way countless times as well. The nights where I felt like my life was taking every turn, anywhere but forward, were the nights I would just lay there and ask myself “What the hell am I doing here?” Everyone feels hopeless at one point or another, some more than others, but nevertheless, you are not the only person feeling this way. At least at one point in everyone lives, they are going to ask themselves what they are doing.
The difference with people is how the react to the vulnerable feeling. Do you let that feeling push you down, or pull you up? Life truly is all about perspective. You can look at a situation and be like “Welp, I guess this is how my life is going to go now.” Or you can look at it say, “I can and will adapt, and this won’t change where my life is heading.
Recently, without going into detail, I was faced with a decision that no one could have made except for myself. There were basically two schools of thought for what I was facing, I could have thrown in the towel and call everything quits, and live a life that was comfortable and more forgiving. The life where I let the world push me down. Or I could look at the situation and stand back up, even if it means more is riding on the line for me.
In the end, I chose the latter of the two. Why? Because the times where you feel hopeless should not get you down. Feeling helpless is a scapegoat used when you are scared to put yourself out there, face reality, and get on track to making things right. It’s not easy, it is difficult to not let the easy way out of things consume you. But at the end, your life will feel more abundant and fulfilled that you could not picture your life any other way.
They say that there are realists and dreamers. And of course there is nothing wrong with looking at the reality of things, and it is easy for dreamers to get a bit off track, but sometimes you have to open your eyes a little wider and look a little farther to realize that your reality has every possibility to be far more superior than you can imagine.
So for the days where you feel like no matter what you do, you are constantly being kicked down. Never allow the hopelessness to eat you up. You are so much more than the feeling of hopelessness. Remember there is never enough harm to keep you down when you have every opportunity to stand back up. Don’t let life worry you into thinking you cannot achieve everything you hope to achieve. Life will not always go straight to your goals. Visions can often get fogged up and misled, but it how you control the situation that determines whether you will make it or not. For the next time, you're feeling just a little hopeless, remember exactly where you're trying to go, it'll be worth it.
