As much I absolutely hate to kiss the freedoms of summer goodbye, I have always been a fan of the autumn season. Truthfully, the changing of the weather was one of the few highlights of the closing of summer vacation. Between the beginning of school, the changing of environments for college students and the end of the perfect beach days, most see fall as a daunting end to a great time. For me, it is the beginning of a beautiful season. Below is a list of the things that I love and look forward to the most about autumn.

1. The beginning of school

Most people dread the start of classes, but I, for one, am I excited to get back to school. The fall means reuniting with my friends from school. The fall means beginning classes of a subject that I absolutely adore. I love school because it means the beginning of a new year with my friends.

2. Cool weather

While pure sunshine is ideal for days spent at the beach, the heat can sometimes be too overwhelming and exhausting. My favorite part of autumn has to be the change in the weather. Brisk breezes, cool evenings and lack of humidity combine to create some of the most beautiful days of the year. Even the changing of the leaves is a beautiful process to witness -- all remnants of summer seem to disappear as the trees don warm red, yellow and orange leaves.

3. Fall fashion

Scarves. Jackets. Boots. Jeans. This is by far my favorite season to dress for due to the myriad of combinations and styles. Sundresses can be restyled with a jacket and boots. Tank tops can be covered by cardigans and worn with jeans. Fall fashion is incredible.

4. Sporting events

Fall is the prime time for sports. Football alone draws millions to stadiums and fields across the country for all levels -- NFL all the way down to recreational. Soccer is also incredibly popular in the fall. Even if you don't like sports, tailgates and event parties are incredibly fun ways to pass time in the fall.

5. Fall-themed activities

Want nothing to do with sports? Well, you're in luck because there are plenty of fun fall activities to enjoy. For example, the brave-hearted can venture on haunted hayrides or even attempt scare-fests in honor of Halloween. Those wanting a more relaxed day can spend time apple or pumpkin picking, or even pumpkin carving.

6. Fall flavors

Speaking of apple and pumpkin, the beginning of the fall season means the introduction of fall flavors like apple, pumpkin and cinnamon. In the fall, I personally feel a bit more inclined to bake because of the sweet scents and delicious tastes. I mean, who can resist apple pie in the fall?

7. Halloween

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year, which is why I look forward to it so much. I absolutely adore the festive atmosphere that the holiday brings. Costume designing, candy purchasing and house/room decorating are all so much fun. Even if you don't like Halloween, it is still very easy to get yourself in the holiday spirit by sitting back and watching the adorable trick-or-treaters.

8. Thanksgiving

For all of the food-lovers like me, Thanksgiving is an amazing holiday. The thought of turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, assorted vegetables and much, much more is making my mouth water as I am writing this. The ideals behind Thanksgiving combined with the plentiful feast certainly make this holiday one to look forward to.

9. Coming home

My favorite part of the Thanksgiving holiday, though, is the fact that I get to come home and be reunited with my family. Despite the fact that the break is not a long one, it is still incredible to see my family after a few months of being at school.

It's only August right now, and I know that the official beginning of the autumn season is still a long time away, but hopefully, this list can help some of the summer lovers prepare to bid their favorite season goodbye. If you're still bummed about the end of summer, don't worry, next summer is just a little while away!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
