My Experience: Lush Spa NYC
Real Mr. Housewife

I love Lush. No I'm not being payed to say that. The Lush people don't even know I exist, but I'm all about them. Ever since they opened a store in my hometown of Fresno, I've been obsessed with their sustainable made, beautiful, bubbly beauty products. Going into a Lush store is an adventure each time.

You get to walk around this brightly colored, sweet smelling store and find the soaps, scrubs, shampoos, and face masks that best fit your skin tone and type. It can be kind of an emotional experience.

So with my infatuation with this company and passion for skincare, you'll imagine my joy when I found out that Lush Spas existed. You mean a place where I could have a perfectly lovely skincare experience with exclusively Lush products?! Where do I sign up? I was so excited to visit the website and find out more about the treatments that they offered and to find out that there was a spa location in New York City, one of my favorite places to visit and where I happen to have been hanging out for the past three weeks. What a deal, right?

After doing a little research through the Lush website and YouTube channel, I picked out a treatment and went to the Lush app to book an appointment right away. Super clear, so easy to use, and I was ready to go into the spa the next day! So exciting!

When I got to the spa, everyone was so professional and accommodating. I sat down in the "spa waiting area" and got to drink cucumber lemon water, it was all very posh and fancy.

My therapist Ellysha came out right away and we went upstairs to talk about my treatment, The Validation. I had chosen this one because it was an all natural face treatment that was supposed to be the "antidote to mass-market facials", which sounded right up my alley.

Take a look at the treatment I got here!

Ellysha was so kind and helpful in explaining my treatment and guiding me through picking products. I got to go through the store with her as she explained everything involved in my facial and showed me options for Lush products that she would use on my face. It was great that I not only got to choose my products, but got to test them out on my hand and smell them to really get a sense of what would work for my skin.

Ellysha also mentioned to me that all the therapists at the spa spend six months training in England to get a true sense of the Lush spirit and how to best help their clients, which I thought was amazing. No wonder she was so helpful and knowledgeable.

After getting a whole palette of products to use on my face, we headed upstairs into the most relaxing, peaceful room ever. It was dark and quiet and absolutely lovely. I got to get in this cozy table bed and have my skin cleansed, massaged, and exfoliated with beautiful music in the background recorded by a folk band specific to Lush.

I know, a truly hippie experience. In the 40 minutes I was with Ellysha, I was completely soothed and relaxed and felt like I was floating. At the end she put a lemon essential oil around my temples and under my nose to gently wake me out of my relaxation. I got to check out my skin and see how perfectly glowy and beautiful I felt!

At the end of my facial, I got to drink some fruity tea and relax, taking my time before I stepped out of the room.

I was so happy and peaceful at the end of my time at the Lush spa. So absolutely excited to have had this experience! Ellysha was so sweet and gave me a hug and sent me on my way with a bag of fun Lush goodies.

If you're ever in New York or Philadelphia, I highly recommend booking a treatment. I hope Lush spas start to expand around the country, because my experience was nothing short of wonderful and I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
