Everyone Should Experience A Concert In Their Lifetime, Full Stop
Shelby Davis

One of my favorite things to do in the world is go to concerts. They are so fun, and so easy to get lost in. Even though many concerts are full of people and its very hectic getting in, there's always this feeling of peace that I get when the artist starts playing. I'm not really sure how to even put it into words, but it's a feeling everyone should get some point in their life.

The beauty of concerts is that no two are ever the same, and I have been to tons of country concerts at the same place, and yet I will go to 100 more, because they are all so different. Every artists brings their own flare and style to their shows, which makes them all so fun. I always look forward to not just the music, but what is the artist going to talk about on stage. They always talk about something that is sometimes super random, and sometimes its about the venue. For example whenever I go to the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach, every artist has talked about the troops and our military, because of the venue.

Also, what more could you want than getting lost in the music to some of your favorite musicians with your friends? Personally, I have been to more concerts with my parents, which is still super fun, because nothing else matters while you are at the concert, except for that moment.

Yet, I still no people who have never been to concerts, and have never experienced these moments. Even if music isn't completely your things, everyone deserves to feel the escape that you can get from a concert. You are surrounded by people who are so clearly hearing the same thing as you and living in that moment. I think that especially today, in a time where social media has taken over everyone can easily get sucked up into the future and the unknown. Yet, at a concert, none of those things matter. All that matters is the music.

I think people need to take advantage of getting lost in music, even if you don't always know what the music is about, it's still important to find the time to just get lost in it and clear your mind. Music has a lot of power, and that power is amplified when you are hearing it live and feeding off the true emotions of the musician in the moment. So, take the time and go to a concert, and keep going to them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
