Makeup problems that are just TOO true.

Expectation vs. Reality: Makeup Edition

It's Saturday night, you and your girlfriends are getting ready to go out. One slight problem... Your hands decide that they're going to make life difficult and be as shaky as possible while you put on makeup. Your foundation isn't setting correctly, your mascara keeps making your lashes look clumpy, and your eyeliner is making you look like a raccoon. Here are four makeup problems you have probably come across and ways to fix them. Meet the expectations versus reality of makeup.

1. Your eyebrows have ended up looking like bolded commas, rather than eyebrows like Cara Delevingne or Lily Collins.

Expectation:

Reality:

How to fix this: Try an eyebrow pressed-powder duo that has a darker and lighter shade of powders than your actual eyebrow hair color. Work your way in from the ends of your eyebrows using the darker shade and then the lighter shade. Use short, light stokes with an eyebrow brush and top it off with a wax that some eyebrow duos come with, or a clear eyebrow gel. Then to clean up around your brows, use a little bit of concealer to line the outside of your now eyebrows on fleek.

2. Your eyelashes always seem to clump together when you put on mascara, and ends up all over your eyes rather than just on your lashes. And for some reason your mouth has to be awkwardly open in order for your mascara to be applied correctly.

Expectation:

Reality:

How to fix this: Use a regular mascara and wiggle it from the base of your eyelashes to the ends. Next, take a waterproof mascara and brush this from the midpoint of your eyelashes till the ends. If any clumping happens, just take a cotton swab or a dry mascara brush and use the tip to separate the clumped lashes. As a bonus, using a regular mascara and a waterproof mascara will make it easier to remove at the end of the day.

3. You manage to line your right eye perfectly, then move on to your left eye. You realize they aren't even, it's okay, you'll just put a little bit more on your right eye... Uh oh, it turns into a hot mess of you trying to get them to even. Congrats, now you look like a raccoon.

Expectation:

Reality:

How to fix this: Try going for a felt-tip eyeliner and start with small strokes. If you use a gel-eyeliner, try not to put so much product on your brush and start with thin layers. You can go in again to intensify your liner and fix anything else. Have some cotton swabs near by for quick fixing little mistakes that happen along the way.

4. You want full, voluminous lips so the most rational thing to do is to line outside of your lips for that effect. But instead you look like you madeout with a clown, had an allergic reaction and people constantly say things like, "you got a little lipstick by your nose"... Oh, okay.

Expectation:

Reality:

How to fix this: Always, always, always put on chapstick before applying lipstick. Try using a lip liner that is in a similar shade as your lipstick, this will prevent your lipstick from smearing outside your lips. If you're trying to get full lips, try investing money in a lip plumper gloss. It will enhance your lips without over doing it.

You look absolutely fabulous no matter what!

Just remember, hard work can pay off and practice makes perfect!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
