What I Expect Out of 2017

A new year with new expectations, where will 2017 take you?

What I Expect Out of 2017
Chad Bird

A new year comes with new expectations. I don't expect too much out of 2017, but I also do expect some change. A few things I expect to be new is relationships, friendships, my walk with God, and insight to a career. I would like to start dating in 2017 and just be up to going out, and maybe get into a relationship. The few close friends I have, I would love for us to grow and become even closer over the next year. God has tremendously blessed me this year, but I can't wait to grow and see what he has in store for me in 2017. Right now I am at a place in my life that I have no clue what I want to do, so hopefully the next year will give me some insight.

My intentions are to put myself out in the dating scene and see people who I could see myself marrying. Even with all the chaos in life, it can get pretty lonely. All I ask is that I have someone to keep my mind off stress, and focus on the positives in a fun environment. Someone who is always up for an adventure, especially spontaneous trips. Anywhere from hiking or taking a day trip to a new town we aren't familiar with. A guy that's okay with staying in and just cooking dinner ourselves and watching a movie. I want to enjoy the simple things in life with a kind hearted man, that's right a man. Someone who goes after the Lord and encourages and motivates me to grow even closer with my relationship to God. A family man, one who wants to surround our own family of someday with both sides of our family. Someone who is all about traditions and holidays, and can appreciate such exciting moments.

I have three very close friends and we all seem to have such busy and hectic lives, but I hope with the new year comes more laughter and memories we can all look back on. Although we all have part time jobs, we also concentrate on school and what comes next for us. Each person has there own significant other, with the exception of myself but you could probably guess how hard it is for us to schedule time for each other. We were the type of girls who always talked about having an apartment together, and being able to have girls night out pretty frequent. At this point in our lives, we are lucky to see each other all together once a month. Now although we are becoming adults seeing every day what the real world is like, we always make sure to stay in touch via group message. A place we can vent and keep everyone updated on what's happening in our separate lives. My goal for 2017, is to bring my friends together more than once a month so we can keep adding on to the memories we already have.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
