Something that I often hear is "I don't have enough time to exercise." Now I don't know everybody's life, but I think that many of us who say this think that our workout needs to take two or three hours. This, my friends, is untrue. Like many of you I do not belong to a gym except for the "free" one at school. I don't think that an effective workout needs a gym or needs to take no longer than 30 minutes to an hour. How do you do this you say? I use YouTube to help guide me! Below I listed three YouTube channels that I visit quite often. Many of these videos are 30 minutes or less!
1. Fitness Blender
This channel has a variety of workouts such as Pilates, strength training, HIIT etc. My favorite work out from Fitness Blender is the one below.
It is only about 35 minutes and all you need is a short warm up before. That equals 40 minutes. Daniel and Kelli are so "real" with you! They talk about their motivations and why they eat healthy and exercise, which influences you. Plus, they have true #couplegoals.
2. Blogilates
Cassey Ho is super enthusiastic and her workouts are intense, but she keeps me going back for more. Her videos range from her famous POP Pilates to PIIT workouts. Many of her videos are under 15 minutes! C'mon guys that's ridiculously short! If you mix two or three of her videos you have your workout for the day. My favorite workout from Blogilates right now is the "Brutal Booty."
This video literally kicks your butt, but it is so rewarding afterwards. Cassey has a section of her channel called "Cheap Clean Eats" where she has many different delicious and healthy recipes such as the banana pancakes!
3. Yoga with Adriene
And finally, the last YouTube channel I discovered was Yoga with Adriene. I love to do yoga, especially on the days that I am too tired, I don't feel like working out, or I am in a bad mood. Adriene's yoga videos are relaxing and help you get a solid workout in. Her videos not only help work your body, but they work your mind. They allow you to release your inner negativity. I just recently started watching her videos, and so far my favorite video by her is the one below.
Watching YouTube videos is one of the best ways you can work out. You have somebody pushing you and showing you the correct forms, you know exactly how long the work out is going to be, you can focus in on what part of the body you want to workout, many of the workouts online are less than one hour, you can do them at home and it is free. It doesn't get any better than that.
Make it fun by mixing up the videos. If I have about an hour I like to do one of Fitness Blender's HIIT workouts that are about 15 to 20 minutes and then end my workout with a yoga sequence by Adrienne. A lot of these channels have weekly or monthly challenges, and doing these can boost your motivation!
Exercise shouldn't be something you dread. There is exercise for every level of fitness. Working out for only a short amount of time is all you need, and don't get discouraged if you can't do a certain exercise right away, it takes time to build muscle and endurance so you've just got to keep pushing yourself. You will feel amazing after completing your workout.
These channels have helped me become more confident in myself, and I hope they do the same for you.
