In college 1 in every 4 women are raped in their college career. And every year 1,270,000 women in the United States is raped. If you do not know about Brock Turner you should now. A lot of different people have many different opinions about the case against Brock Turner. In California Brock Turner received a six month sentence in jail for raping a girl when she she was unconscious. Brock only got a six month sentence because his dad said that he can't handle a longer sentence.
In 2014 Turner was found walking across his campus drinking. He was caught by the cops and tried to run. He also had a fake ID on him too. The night of the rape Turner has evidence against him on his phone; him smoking a pipe, and a video of him hitting a bong. Obviously the women raped was not in a good condition to give consent to have sex, and neither was Turner. When cops arrived to the scene Turner was being held down by two men and the victim was curled up behind a dumpster with her dress up to her hips.
During the trial the rape victim had a letter to read to Brock Turner and the people in the court. It is one of the most powerful things that I have read. It is raw and easy to hang onto every single word. The letter gives a jaw dropping description of the rape and how bad the aftermath of the rape was. Everyone should read this because rape in the United States is barely ever reported and when it is barely any of the rapists get a sentence due to lack of evidence. Rape is not about alcohol or drugs. It is about the choices people make along the way when they decide to take the clothes off of someone and take advantage of them.
