When I tell people, “I have to race home now or I am going to miss The Bachelor!” I get the most confused looks. I am possibly the most single person you could meet and I love The Bachelor and you would too. This season has been crazy and it just started a few weeks ago!
I don’t watch the show just to see how others fall in “love”. There are life lessons from this show, and I hope you would agree with me on a few. Cheers to the perfect “Ben” season and if you’re not watching the show, you’re honestly not missing out on a lot.
1) This show is not about love.
It is merely about bringing drama filled women and overly confident guys together to make money for the television production. It is obvious that these people were chosen based on their personality, career, and probably their psychotic state of mind.
2) There are real people out there.
From this season, even though she was annoying, my favorite contestant was Lace. It took her three weeks to realize that she was not meant to be there. With her departure with Ben, she said, “I need to learn to love myself before I love someone else.”
3) No one is perfect!
Olivia, the girl with her mouth always open, hits this point dead on. The other women on the show were literally making fun of the way her toes looked and even last Monday night, she didn’t have a great talent like all the other women during the date.
4) Mom contestants are the best.
These women have already lived through heartbreak, but received the precious gift of a child. In all of the seasons, they are afraid to tell the bachelor about their children fearing they would get the boot. It is terrifying for the bachelor to ask a woman to marry her and her child!
5) The first impression isn’t everything.
The women do the craziest things to receive attention on the first night. Many looked gorgeous in their gowns, a little creepy with a unicorn mask and downright weird bringing in a pony. Why can’t people just be normal?
6) From the beginning, you can pick out which girls are crazy.
Usually they can be picked out after having a few drinks or when the drama starts up.
7) What is her career?
Just because twin sisters are on the show, doesn’t mean being a “Twin” is a career... Also, viewers should not have to look up what a Gerontologist is!
8) Where do the girls get these dress?
For real though, the girls did not pack those dresses in their suitcases. Plus their hair and makeup is always perfect! Can I have a personal hair and makeup artist for one day?
9) Some girls have the weirdest laughs.
Not sure if it is just me, but some girls laugh so weird! Can't tell if they are being overdramatic, flirting with Ben, or if that is actually their normal laugh. I have to say the weird laugh winner is bachelor Chris Soules, who literally sounded like a dolphin.
10) There are so many hugs and kisses!
I absolutely adore Ben for rejecting Lace's kiss on the first night. You guys just met!! That was not the case a few days into the season. Try and keep a count tonight of how many kisses Ben gets! Yet, how awesome would it be if one girl gets sick and gives it to Ben, then he passes it to everyone else. That's a new definition of "the kissing disease."
11) Ben is most definitely a Ten.
Even though this show may not be realistic, we are all falling head over heels for Ben!
With all of these aspects, it goes back to ABC’s production wanting to make money. Yet, The Bachelor could have life lessons in the end. If you need a good laugh for two hours every Monday, watch it! Maybe you'll receive some styling tips and learn the do's and don't's of a first date. Plus, the bachelor this season, Ben Higgins, isn't too bad to look at.
