Practically having a roommate from Texas for two years now, I've learned quite a bit about Texas. It takes a lot for me to admit this, but Texas isn't so bad. I'm a Jersey girl forever at heart, but I've decided to give a piece of it to Texas and here's why.
1. Whataburger
If you enjoy burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fries, you need to go to Whataburger ASAP.
I walked in so confused, but upon leaving, I found my new favorite place to eat. It's so amazing you'll dream about it.
2. They have everything
Any restaurant, clothing store, activity you could think of. I remember being in the car looking out the window in shock. The highways took you to everything in less than 20 minutes.
3. Western-themed nightclubs
Being a Jersey girl, nightclubs look very different. While visiting Dallas, I went to my first western-themed nightclub. Almost everyone wore cowboy boots. It was so fun to dance and be carefree.
4. Mexican food
Nothing beats Mexican food in Texas! I swear they have a special ingredient!
5. My best friend lives there
Who knew freshman year English class could bring someone so special to my life. From binge watching Netflix series, to moving into my room, and waking me up every morning for class, I don't know what I would do without Jennifer.
She brought her Texas joy to Kansas, and this Jersey girl is forever grateful. She's shown me a brighter side to life. She's shown me that Texas is an amazing place to be. She's got "y'all" stuck in my head 24/7, and introduced me to many new things. Even if it meant shoving flan in my face, we always have a great time together.
We will always be found together, and I would do anything to have the state of Jersey moved closer to Texas to see her more often. If you haven't been, y'all should go check out the state of Texas! It's pretty amazing!
