Everything Happens For A Reason

“Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together.” –Marilyn Monroe

We all experience tough situations in life. As much as we hate it, that is the way life is.

The way we deal with these bad or inconvenient occurrences, however, can make a huge difference.

There is a famous saying, “Everything happens for a reason.” Now, I admit, I often throw the saying around:

Person: “Why did they stop selling cookies?”

Me: Everything happens for a reason!

Person: That literally makes no sense.

The point there is that thinking that the saying everything happens for a reason can be really helpful- but when you throw it around, it loses its meaning.

In all honesty, though, when I find myself in tough situations, I find that repeating those words and realizing their meaning, will actually help to change my attitude for the better.

Think about it! As cliché as it may be, bad things happen, they make you stronger, and then more good comes out of it. Even better, it is a saying that you can interpret your own way to fit your life!

Sometimes we fail at things, whether it be a test, our job, an interview, or whatever, but do we really fail? Everything happens for a reason. Maybe it made you realize to study harder or find a new way to study. Maybe there is a job out there that suits you more. The saying is a way to remain positive and look forward to the future instead of questioning all of the bad things that happen.

We do not find out the reason right away, but in time it will all make sense. It is a mantra. Do not regret anything. There is a reason why it happened.

The saying is not an excuse to go out and do dangerous things, it is not intended to diminish feelings or make it seem like your problems are not important. It is simply a mindset for a confident life.

Everything happens for a reason” is a challenge to find the positive in difficult situations. It is an outlook on life that could help you be happier.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
