Everyone's Week Before School

Getting supplies and figuring out teachers.

As I prepare to begin my senior year, the same old thoughts keep rolling through my mind; get school supplies, figure out where my classes are, have an existential crisis about where my life is heading. If you are anything like me, you probably feel just like me. To help better understand this, please see the following list.

1. Figure out school starts in less than a week.

2. Look up which classes your in, because its been like 4 months since you looked at your schedule.

3. Mass order your books online. Shout out to Amazon!

4. Get your school supplies together.

4b. Realize you need pretty much everything, so you head to Staples.

5. Sob when you realize all your money went to books you'll read three pages of.

6. Figure out what buildings your in and prepared to make that daredevil run across campus.

7. Text all your friends and find out when people are moving in.

8. Tear apart your closet trying to find an outfit that is PERFECT for the first day.

9. Get everything organized, thinking for once you'll have your life together.

10. Try and fall asleep but you can't because you're too excited/nervous about school starting.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
