Ever since I have turned 20, a lot has gone through my mind. Lately I sit there thinking about old memories and wishing I could go back. Also, missing people I once talked to every day and wondering what happened or how we fell off. But, I finally realized that some people weren't meant to be in our life even if we might not ever know the reason why. Whether it is a best friend, a significant other, or just someone you met in your life the feeling is the same. So, when you lose someone that used to be in your life, don't get upset. It may not be the right time. And if that person is meant to be, maybe someday your paths will cross again.
When we are kids, we get taught to be nice to everyone and that love lasts. Yes, we were kids, and yes, it is most definitely true then. All the kids got equal everything. When one student got something the whole class did. We had secret handshakes and made promises the we swore to keep until we died. But, even through elementary school we lose people. When you're that young you don't really think about these things. Things change and people change too.
Not all goodbyes are created equally. You kinda learn that once you mature and grow as a person. One minute you're making these plans with your best friend of countless years and then you realize two years have passed and you can't even recognize the one person you spent majority of your life with. I have said many goodbyes, but it never is easy.
Even though losing someone sucks, they leave you life lessons. You may not know that during the moment. But, down the road when you look back you will be able to see. A lot of people have came and gone many times through my life. Each single person that has come into and out of my life has taught me something different. And for that I am grateful.
I have been blessed to meet many great people in my life. The kind of people that will test you and push you to reach much further than you think you're capable of. The kind of people that make you wonder what life was like before them. If it were up to me, I would keep these people close to me forever so I would never have to lose them. But, life happens, and there is nothing you can do about it.
We all change at one point, even though we swear not to let it happen. You can't really help it. Life changes us. We outgrow these people. Either distance gets too much or the circumstances become too difficult. We say goodbye not because we want to, but because sometimes life wins.
We are all just going through life meeting different people. And sometimes you meet someone that may leave an imprint on you that will last a lifetime. They may not have been permanent, but they were once exactly what you needed.
Whether it may be a best friend you thought you'd never lose or a significant other you thought you would spend forever with, they left an impact long after their unspoken goodbye.
