I Still Don't Know What To Write About

What Everyone With Writer's Block Does

Everyone will experience writers block at some point in their life. Whether it is for school, for fun or when having to write anything. While I love to write, I too experience writers block every single time I try to type anything, mainly these articles. When I don't know what to write what I do is in the following paragraphs.

The first thing I do is start to type anything I think about no matter how ridiculous. Even if it is unrelated to the topic. I'm really hungry. That was a perfect example, and leads me to my next task I take on when I don't know what to write. Like most people I eat when I'm bored or trying to think or stressed. Having to think of something interesting to write about is very difficult. Let's be honest who wants to read half the requirements in school or anywhere. The best way people find to avoid this is by eating to make an excuse that they can't write. Eating is a fantastic way to help with writers block because it can help you think and relax you. Usually for me it doesn't because I just like to eat so really it is just another excuse to eat.

Additionally, I will go away from my computer and do anything else. Probably play basketball or some kind of sport. If I really don't know what to do I'll distract myself for hours on end so I can avoid having to write. Having writers block brings anxiety of having to get a task done. It can be extremely stressful. Right now I have no idea what to say, I am simply putting words on a page to prove a point about how to get over writers block like it's word vomit. That was a "Mean Girls" reference I'm pretty sure.

Since I am a 19 year old in a society where we are addicted to our technology the main thing I will do when I do not know what to write is look at my phone. Even if I have looked at all three of my social media apps multiple times, I pray someone posted a new stupid cat video or a vine I can watch.

The most common task I do when trying to get over writers block is procrastinate as long as possible. I will do literally anything to not write. I will make up some ridiculous task that I "need to do" so I can avoid having to write until I have to actually get it done. I find myself doing things I would not normally do such as clean my room extremely thoroughly. When I procrastinate I clean my room to make it presentable enough for the president. A very common task I do will tell myself I need a break, even though I haven't started yet, is watch "Parks and Rec." on Netflix. I always tell myself I'll only watch one but both you and I know that doesn't happen. Three hours later and I'm still on my couch watching until that little annoyance asks if I'm still watching, just taunting me and telling me I've watched so much the TV thinks I'm dead. After that happens I finally drag myself to the computer to write and usually I still do not know what to write about.

I really hope all this stuff happens to everyone else I'll just look like a guy preaching about his week, and no one want to read that. These techniques however ridiculous do work. Eventually, I will have an idea that becomes the most brilliant idea at the time but later realize was not, but all that matters is that I got it done.

Writers block is a big problem for people and it creates stress and anxiety that everyone struggles with. However you deal with it is up to you and hopefully it works. Next time you have a big paper to write or a dead line to get something done you probably should do the opposite of everything I just wrote. Good luck with all of your future writings, stay classy University of Idaho.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
