After officially moving into my first apartment at 20 with one of my best friends, it’s safe to say I’m a huge advocate for it. I mean honestly, I cannot think of something better to do when you’re in your early 20’s, it’s one of the best things you can do. So, after officially living together for almost 4 months, I’ve compiled a list of reasons as to why everyone needs to hop on this band wagon.
You always have someone to talk to
Whether it be advice, to talk about life, or to just complain about the terrible day you just had, you know your best friend is always there to hear you out (and give stellar advice).
It makes you appreciate each other more
I don’t know if this is just me, but ever since moving in with my roommate/best friend, I appreciate our friendship more. And not in the I-never-appreciated-our-friendship type of way, but more in the I am grateful that I have a friend that knows so much about me and vice versa and STILL wants to spend time with me.
You have a designated travel/wild adventure buddy
This definitely depends on who your friend may be, but for us, we have had some wild adventures in just the few short months we’ve actually lived together and with many more to come.
You learn to really love being a young 20-something while you can
I was always the type of person that wished my life away and constantly wanted to be older than I was. Now, I’ve learned to live in the moment more and do things that every other 20-something year olds do because, well, we can now while we’re young.
You learn a lot from each other
You learn how to be respectful of other people’s space in your apartment, you learn to look out for each other, and most importantly you both learn how to begin the process of entering the adult world with a great friend by your side to help you through it all.
You always have someone to give you advice
Whether it be about relationships, food choices, or even just about life in general, you can be sure that you’ll always have someone there to lend an ear and dish out some good advice.
