If you are from El Paso, Texas or have lived in El Paso for some time, you may know El Pasoans are infamous for

criticizing that there is not much to do here. I hope to change your viewpoint by informing you that there is a lot to do in El Paso that people do not always take advantage of.

First off, El Paso has a beautiful landscape in the Franklin Mountains, which is the largest urban park in the nation within city limits. I know many people who go hiking in these mountains along the trails established. I have heard if you go far enough into the mountains you can actually see deer and other interesting wildlife. There's also the Wyler Aerial Tramway, which is located within the park. Many people that I know in El Paso are not aware of this tramway and I'm sure they would be surprised it does not get more attention. If you are the type of person who may not be willing to take an adventurous hike, then the tramway may be more convenient for you.

Scenic Drive is a road that goes along the side of the Franklin Mountains. It faces south and features the view of two countries, The United States and Mexico. If you every find yourself bored as an effect of stultifying work day then visiting scenic drive could be a good idea. It is a beautiful view of our city and it is a good place to contemplate life, spend time with someone, and take pictures.

El Paso also has baseball games at the Southwest University Park stadium. Most of these games are Chihuahuas games which is the official Triple-A minor baseball team. There are games most days of the week and tickets are very accessible. I have gone to these games I can agree that they are very entertaining and are worth an afternoon of fun and excitement.

Another good place to consider visiting is the El Paso Plaza Theatre. The Plaza Theatre was built in the 1920's and is very known in El Paso for it's aesthetics and history. The Plaza Theatre is consistantly holding events such as plays or musical entertainment. For example, I am going to be attending the "Arts Festival Plaza" venue this week. This is held between the Plaza Theatre and the El Paso Theatre where classic films will be played in different locations.

There is also a numerous amount of museums in El Paso that some people take for granted. There is the El Paso Museum of Art, the Centennial Museum, the El Paso Holocaust Museum, the El Paso Museum of History, and many more. You may be surprised how insightful and how much you might learn from visiting one of these museums.

One event that I definitely do look forward to every year is the Neon Desert Music Festival held in El Paso. The festival is held every year within downtown El Paso and streets are blocked off so people can watch their favorite artists live, with performances that range from artists like Passion Pit to Daddy Yankee. The crowd is filled with a variety of people from many different locations who are eager to engage in the fun and festivities. This is undoubtedly an event many people should try to attend.

One thing I know for sure is that when people leave El Paso to go visit or reside in a new city/town, the thing they usually miss the most is the food. I highly recommend visiting local restaurants if you are not from El Paso and you are making plans on what to do because you will not regret it.

Hopefully I have changed your perspective on things to do in El Paso. If you're a native El Pasoan then I advise you to take advantage and embrace our city filled with culture and entertainment.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
