It's finally here...the best time of year...it's March Madness!!! As an avid basketball fan, this is truly the best time of year. I get so excited filling in brackets, hearing discussions about teams on ESPN, and watching the games. I've even updated the NCAA app on my phone so that I can watch the games on the go. There is something so thrilling about all the basketball fans coming together for one whole month of crazy.
I love basketball. I don't always keep up with every college team prior to March Madness, I will be the first to admit it, but I do watch ESPN and make sure to keep tabs on what is going on. I do find myself occasionally watching different teams besides my own (Go Dawgs), and hearing about the most talented college players. I get so excited about this tournament, because it is a month dedicated to one of my favorite things in the world. I live for the upsets, I love watching the guys that can just flat out shoot the ball, and I love the excitement of the college fans, watching their brackets get busted, or the excitement for the fans whose team or college made it to the Sweet Sixteen. Now as a college student, I can't help but get so excited for a team who makes it far into the tournament, especially if they weren't favored to be there. To be able to go to the school that potentially wins this tournament would be a dream.
It pains me to think that there is a stereotype out there where people believe girls don't get into March Madness or don't know a thing about sports in general. Well for the girls like me, they are wrong. I was educated in the world of sports from my dad at a very young age -- he made sure I knew how to throw a spiral -- and I've been attending all types of sporting events since as long as I can remember. My entire family does their own bracket challenge, and I think coming from a family that lives, breathes and dies sports really jump starts my excitement for this month every year. I love being able to talk sports, and this month just encourages it.
Be sure to download the NCAA app, folks. Don't forget to keep track of your brackets, and be sure to enjoy what Indiana is known for. The world of basketball is a great world to be a part of, and you have to include yourself into the excitement. After all, they call it "Madness" for a reason.
