End Of Summer To-Do List

What will you do these last few days?

End Of Summer To-Do List

Sadly, the summer months are coming to an end. In about a week or so, school is going to have started for many people across the States. Meaning that for most of us, we are going to be trading in our bathing suits for textbooks. Because of this, I’ve created a checklist of things that everyone should do during the last few days of summer break.

1. Do one of the things on your summer bucket list.

It’s likely that at the beginning of the summer you told yourself you were going to do an entire list of things this summer. And like many people, you probably only completed two. So gather that list of yours and try to complete at least one of those things during this last week.

2. Get your school supplies.

Sadly, school is starting. You might as well get new stationary to prepare for the new semester. I don’t know about you, but getting new school supplies gets me mentally prepared for the months ahead. If you don't feel like buying some, you could also DIY a few things!

3. Take one last beach trip.

Nothing makes it feel more like summer than going to the beach. Unless you go to a school next to the ocean, you might not be seeing the water for a few months. So gather your beach bag and head down to the closest beach near you.

4. Hang out with friends/family.

If you’re going to be going away for college or even going abroad, then relish these next few days with the ones you love. Knowing that you spent that last few days of summer with your friends and family might prevent some of you from getting homesick in the future.

5. Clean your living space.

New semester, new me… not really. However, cleaning your living space will probably help you feel prepared for the next chapter. Sometimes a change of space can bring new ideas to the table.

6. Read that book you told yourself you were going to read.

If you haven’t read this summer, challenge yourself to pick up a book during the last few weeks. If you have read, challenge yourself to read one more book. It might seem like a boring idea, but you never know, it could take you to a whole new world.

7. Love your pet.

If you have a pet that you’re going to be missing this school year, make sure to spend some time with him/her. It’s likely that the little fella is going to miss you too.

8. Buy a new outfit.

Remember those days when you used to spend the night before school trying on different outfits? Well, just because you’re a little bit older doesn’t mean you can’t do it anymore. Buy a new outfit and strut your way into the new semester!

9. Have a party!

Just because summer’s ending doesn’t mean you can’t have a last hoorah! Invite your friends, get some food/drink and enjoy everyone’s company. Remember, you’re only this age once!

10. Set a goal for your semester.

If you’re a goal-setter like I am, try setting a few goals for the semester. It will give you something to strive for and maybe something to look forward to.

As summer ends, try to remember the fun memories you made. This list isn’t to kick summer to the curb, but to end it on a good note. Make the end of the summer one you’ll fondly look back on in a couple of years.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
