"Adulting."
It's a word we've all said once or twice, made a caption on Snapchat, or even used as a hashtag on Instagram. Meme after meme is dedicated to the overwhelming cluelessness felt by college students all around the world.
Taxes, what are those? A morning without coffee, what is that? A weekend without homework, is that even real life?
Here are some moments we face that boost even the least put-together student's confidence in their abilities as a full-fledged adult:
1. Started a research paper more than a week before its due date
2. Applied for summer job, grad school, or anything requiring references
3. Made an appointment (bonus points: made appointment on the phone)
4. Did dishes, laundry, cleaned your dorm room AND started homework all in one day
5. Visited Financial Aid (bonus points: if the visit included paying a bill)
6. Scheduled classes for next semester (bonus points: if scheduled in a nap time OR blocked classes with no time to eat)
7. Ate dining hall food because you are required to have a meal plan
8. Got invited to a wedding or bridal shower/bachelor party
9. Logged into Facebook and saw at least four of your friends get engaged over the weekend
10. Called your parents hoping to hear the words, "I'm proud of you." Even if it's just for wearing matching socks (bonus point: asking them if you're 'adulting yet')
11. Made a meal that consisted of more than ramen, toast, or cereal
And now we're ready for the power that comes with living in the real world, right?
