Living in New York and being a more right-winged young lady isn't always an easy thing. I tend to keep my views to myself and never post anything political on social media. But sometimes, the constant ignorance and implications made towards republicans are outlandish, so I speak up. There are a lot more democrats in New York than republicans so the struggle lies in getting people to understand that the common stereotypes democrats give republicans are often comical and false.
Actually, it's not often, they're ALWAYS false. For me, my views are right winged economically, and mildly liberal with social issues- and I ALWAYS keep an open mind. I do not come from high-class society as I'm precisely a middle to low-income citizen- being that I'm in college and owe our wonderful government so much money. But I'd like to put to rest the many stereotypes we are confronted with so the next time you come across the rare breed of a republican, you can have a very intelligent conversation.
1. YOU SUPPORT HITLER
Yeah......I support a mass genocide....or a man that was absolutely insane. Are you joking?!?!
2. YOU'RE A HOMOPHOBE
Nope! I have so many friends apart of the LGBTQ community and they are the greatest people. I am not religious and I do not discriminate on your choices of love.
3. YOU'RE SEXIST/RACIST
Well just like I have gay friends, I have friends of all different colors. Black, White, Tan, Yellow, Green, Orange. I love them all equally, and I learn from them each and every day. I also take pride in being a woman and support other women constantly. I only like to be uplifting and I definitely am a supporter of equal opportunity for men and women.
4. YOU HATE POOR PEOPLE
It's funny because I constantly give to charity and homeless people on the street. I always do my part and help out others and my family is the same way. I was raised to give back and I will raise my children that way.
5. AMERICA- NO IMMIGRANTS
My Italian heritage goes way back to the commencement of America. Without my Italian immigrant family, I wouldn't be here. America is a bouillabaisse of cultures and I welcome immigrants with arms wide open. I obviously do not support illegal immigrants (for many reasons) but if you want to come here on a legal status, LET'S PARTY!!!!

6.YOU'RE CLOSE MINDED
If I could travel the world and learn solely through the eyes of other people, I would. I never ever take one bit of information at face value. I always learn from others and their experiences and you know what, I even listen to what democrats and liberals have to say. If I can learn a bit of everything from everyone and take it with me for the rest of my life, I would.
