If you hadn’t heard of G-Eazy before this year, then you are not alone. The 26-year-old rapper burst through the underground and into the mainstream in spectacular fashion.

Gerald Earl Gillum, otherwise known as G-Eazy, is becoming a well-known name in the rap industry. He has a sophisticated old-school style that makes the ladies swoon for him. You will always find him dressed in all black with his hair slicked back, a bottle of Jack Daniels in hand. This six-foot-five rapper stands out in the crowd as well as on stage. Regardless of his height, the old-fashioned swagger and confidence he projects is what sets him apart from the masses.

With the introduction of his new album, “When Its Dark Out,” on December 4th of this year, G-Eazy is skyrocketing to stardom. Rap artists such as Chris Brown and Big Sean make an appearance on various tracks, which is a big step in the right direction for G.

2014 was also a big year for him -- he opened for Drake and Lil Wayne at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre in September. Red Rocks is known as one of the best venues in the country, and alongside these two huge artists, his performance did not go unnoticed.

Each year, there are thousands of new artists attempting to make a name for themselves. In a song off of his new album called “Sad Boy,” G raps the words “Rap is like the lottery, we’re all tryna scratch for.” Everyone is looking for fame of some sort. Nowadays, if you want to become a household name, you have to have that special something that makes you stand out from the crowd.

What makes G-Eazy — a skinny, white kid from California — stand out among the millions of other rappers out there? His attitude. His confidence makes itself obvious through his lyrics as he says “I'm the coldest white rapper in the game, since the one with the bleached hair” in reference to Eminem. In yet another song he sings “G’s dope he might blow up, I think I know, I’ve got a hunch." He’s good and he knows it. He isn’t shy about telling the world he’s here to stay.

G is living the dream and he loves to rap about all the perks that come with being famous; the parties, the ladies and unlimited drinks. But he seems conflicted on whether or not he’s 100 percent ready to dive in headfirst. He has some reservations about his newfound lifestyle.

In the third record on his new album titled “Me, Myself and I,” he shares how through all the new fame, he desperately needs time to himself. Behind the facade of his celebrity lifestyle, interviews with G reveal that he is actually quite shy and reclusive. This song helps us understand that he does indeed love the fame but also needs time to be alone. He knows that the only person who can help him through the dark nights and self-doubt is himself.

The past two years have brought nothing but success for G-Eazy and it seems he is making bigger and bigger strides with each passing day. “When it’s Dark Out” is currently number six on iTunes list of Top Albums. His newest album is on track to sell over 110,000 copies in the first week, double that of his first released album, “These Things Happen” from 2014.

His lyrics are versatile and relatable. He understands what it’s like to come from nothing and work incredibly hard to reach your goals. I think this is why G has become so popular; he really understands the real world and what average people go through. G is on the path to blowing up the rap world and I can’t wait to see what he brings for us next.

“You people wonder who's next up, that conversation really ends here” – G-Eazy

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
