I just joined the Crew Club at College of Charleston last week. Before we get on the water and actually start to row though, we have to go through land conditioning which involves a lot of running and core exercises. We also do this at six o'clock in the morning; it just makes a great time even better. I really enjoy meeting new people by joining the team and I'm proud of myself for powering through the workouts, but I always have the same thoughts running through my head every morning. Anyone who has sacrificed sleeping in to work out has. So here is a list from someone who feels your pain.

1. It's too early for this

2. Is being in shape worth waking up this early?

3. I would really like to go back to bed

4. Okay, I'm waking up a bit more now

5. Never mind, I'm ready to fall asleep again

6. Don't back out now, your already on the way you have to actually work out

7. Getting started is, like, half the battle

8. Running isn't so bad

9. Oh wait it's actually really bad

10. Why did I decide to do this?

11. Why am I so slow?

12. Why am I so weak?

13. I can't even breathe

14. When did lunges become so hard?

15. Jumping jacks are actually really tiring and I hate them

16. I hate squats too

17. And push-ups

18. And sit-ups

19. So I guess I hate working out in general

20. Is everyone else as sweaty as I am?

21. How gross do I look?

22. How gross do I smell?

23. I can't wait to shower

24. Water has never been this refreshing

25. Am I doing this exercise right?

26. And we're running again

27. Running sucks so much

28. Alright we're done

29. That wasn't too bad

30. I feel so proud of myself

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
