Everyone knows drinking alcohol and soda is bad for weight-loss, but do you know what to drink? Well, in case you didn't, I did some research and here's what you should be drinking.
1. Drink warm water with lemon when you wake up (or any time of day really).
Warm lemon water in the morning helps kickstart the digestion process for the day, boost your metabolism and curb your appetite. Hey, it even freshens your breath! All you got to do is squeeze half a fresh lemon into water and if you want it to taste better, mix it with tea. Which brings us to...
2. You can't drink too matcha green tea
Numerous studies have linked drinking green tea or matcha and weight loss and recommend around 4-5 cups daily. The phytochemical they contain, EGCG, has many health benefits which include boosting metabolism. The EGCG concentration from drinking matcha is roughly three times higher than that of regular green tea so drink matcha if you can, but green tea is also great. To prepare a matcha latte, heat up milk, then add the heated milk to a whisked mixture of boiling water and matcha powder and sweeten it with agave.
3. For the true badass: apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar tastes just as bad as you think. I'm not going to lie to you. But a lot of people swear by it for weight loss and it became increasingly popular after Dr. Oz featured it on his show. One big reason why it's good is it may reduce the body's ratio of insulin, which promotes fat storage, to glucagon, which favors fat burning.
4. For the true sloth: ice-cold water
What could be easier than this? Just add some ice to your water. Even drinking just 3 24-oz servings of ice cold water per day can help you burn an extra 100 calories since the ice cold beverage prompts your body to expend energy maintaining a 98.6-degree temperature.
5. In case you needed another excuse to drink coffee...
You probably didn't need another excuse to drink coffee but here it is: coffee's caffeine ups your metabolism, so it can help you burn more calories. And another: coffee has been shown to improve endurance, so it may help you work out longer. Just make sure you're not loading it up with sugary sweeteners and creamers.
