"Pick Me, Choose Me, Love Me..." Every Grey's Anatomy fan is aware of this famous quote said by Meredith Grey. In fact, I have this very quote as a sticker on my laptop, but the more I look at it and read it, the more I realize I don't want a "pick me, choose me" kind of love. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the moment of that scene (mainly because you are watching McDreamy) that you don't actually realize what that line entails. Meredith is literally begging and crying to Derek to pick her and choose her over Addison.
See, I don't want to be an option and I don't want there to be a choice. I want to be the only person someone loves, that they don't even have to think twice about it. I am not going to wait around for a man to decide whether he wants me or not. I don't want to be the girl who waits for the love of her life to get over the love of their life. I refuse to let myself be someone's number two only to remain a number two when a new girl comes around. I will not do that to myself.
Feeling desperate and unappreciated lessens you as a human being and no one should feel that way, which is why I am perfectly content with waiting for a love that starts strong and ends stronger. So please, if you have to pick between me and someone else don't pick me, don't choose me, and don't love me.
