Don't Let Fear Get In The Way Of Your Dreams

If you really want something, then fight for it no matter how frightening the odds are.

Don't Let Fear Get In The Way Of Your Dreams
Tom Andreasen

Dreams can be frightening. Everything is frightening really or even a bit scary. Your dreams, no matter how large or outlandish, however, should never scare you or deter you from your goals. They should inspire you to work harder every day in order to accomplish them, right? It's always fascinating whenever someone isn't chasing their goals or they're procrastinating from chasing it.

I used to run away from my goals or tell everyone about my dreams and then look the other way and think about my future trying out some job that I would most likely hate just because it would make my father proud and it would make me loads of money. Dreams are not about the money they are about self-satisfaction and making yourself happy or helping to better your own life or maybe even others.

I dreamt of being an author when I was younger and I used to write all the time but after a while, I stopped because I was told I was no good, that I would never make any money, or that I'd be better off in "such and such" field. I'm no longer listening to those voices but rather listening to the voice in my head. the voice beating with my heart.

This year I am writing and doing the National Novel Writing Month challenge also known as NaNoWriMo and I am more excited than I have been in my entire life. I feel things coming together more than they ever have before even if I do hate what I am writing, because it is garbage, but I am writing and that's all that matters.

Dreams shouldn't be something we fear or else we'd call them nightmares or terrors or something stupid and unreachable. That's not what they are though. They are goals and milestones for each and every one of us and we all should be chasing them and not be letting them slip away just because of what other people say.

Chase your dreams. Chase them and fight for them every step of the way and don't let up no matter how big of a challenge is in your way. We always watch movies, shows, or read books about heroes conquering a challenge even when facing daunting odds. Well, this is your movie and you are the protagonist fighting for what you believe in.

Life really is just your movie, it is your story. Isn't it time you stop letting others write it for you and start being the narrator too? Life is short and everything we encounter will most likely terrify us but we can't let it stop us before we've done what we came here to do.

Work to accomplish your dreams. Maybe start out by setting goals for yourself. Maybe you're already working to meet your dreams and your goal is to pass your next test or finish the next chapter of your story. All I know is that there is never a better time to start working on it. There's never a better time to start than now because yesterday has already come to a close and tomorrow will never truly arrive. If you want really want something then you should start, you should work for it, or you should let it go.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
