Why I Don't Care About Hillary’s Emails

P.S. They Aren’t Even Her Emails

Why I Don't Care About Hillary’s Emails

I literally care about nothing less in this world than Hillary Clinton’s emails, and coming from a college student, that should mean a lot. I simply don’t care about her emails because they are literally the most irrelevant documents on the face of this planet. Time and time again her emails have proven to be normal, regular communications between her and her staff, nothing abnormal and especially nothing illegal. The latest email “scandal” is actually the funniest one to me simply because the emails FBI Director James Comey called into question with his unprecedented letter to Congress are actually emails from Hillary’s longtime staffer Huma Abedin’s estranged husband, Anthony Weiner. So the emails that Trump and other Republican leaders are calling into question were actually never even sent by Hillary Clinton. Aside from all the immensely compelling reasons I just mentioned to not care about Hillary’s emails, there are dozens of more reasons to not care about this faux scandal. I would say the biggest reason that this new sound bite is completely irrelevant to this election cycle is because this election is not about partisan politics, it’s a fight between right and wrong. It’s a fight against racism, homophobia, Islamophobia, xenophobia and misogyny. It’s a fight about not only our own morals and ethics, but the founding principles of our nation and democracy. Voting for Hillary Clinton is your way of showing yourself, your family, your friends, and your country that you care about the future of our society, and that you believe in the equal treatment of all individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation. I couldn’t care less what these emails say because no matter what Hillary Clinton is the only one fighting for the values our country has practiced for the past 240 years.

If you are still not convinced that voting for Hillary Clinton is the best thing for the future of our nation due to recent controversies, let’s just analyze one of Donald Trump’s policies and see if it violates the founding principles and laws of this nation. “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” (https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/donald...). Donald put this policy forward on December 7, 2015, and it provoked massive support from his supporters. Now let’s break that quote down and analyze it, Donald wants to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. Banning 1.6 billion people solely on the basis of their religion completely violates the founding principles of this nation, and in fact is in sharp contrast to the reason why our Founding Fathers came to America in the first place, religious freedom. Religious freedom was put at the forefront of our Bill of Rights, as the First Amendment reads “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”. It does not take a constitutional lawyer to see that banning 1.6 billion people, a law that would have to go through Congress, is in sharp contrast to the first amendment of our Constitution. That’s exactly why Hillary’s emails don’t matter, because her opponent is running on a platform that violates our nation's founding documents. When you go to vote this election cycle, I urge you to ponder the question, which is more detrimental to our democracy, Hillary’s emails or Donald’s outward defiance of the Constitution of the United States?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
