Makeup is a statement. Makeup is chosen. Sorry guys, girls are not wearing it for you. I personally love makeup. I wear makeup when I want to, not because I feel like I need it. Makeup is a hobby for me. My makeup doesn't define me though, so do not call me a “cake-face”. I really do not care if you like makeup or not.
The biggest misconception about makeup is the idea that women hate themselves so they are trying to cover it all up. Makeup can be for so many other reasons, it can be for fun, theater, an event, or even you aspire to do it for a career. Just because there are people out there that actually love to do makeup, does not mean they think their face is ugly or that the person they are making up is ugly. Makeup also highlights the greater aspects of ourselves. Eyeshadow can pop your eye color, with any color out there, so it can work for everyone. Or lipstick can make your luscious lips look even better. Makeup can be used in so many ways, so it shouldn't be shot down.
My makeup does not make me this specific person. I truly do not understand how cake face was created because wearing makeup does not look like cake on my face. Wearing makeup also does not mean that I think my natural face is ugly. I have a natural face sometimes, too. I am wearing this makeup because I truly enjoy doing it. I feel like some kind of artist. I really feel so happy when I think my makeup comes out good. I only care about my opinion, not yours.
I think it is the most hilarious thing when a guy believes girls wear makeup to impress them. Girls are actually looking in the mirror thinking "damn, wing on fleek." They aren't thinking, “oh the guys are definitely going to be drooling over this makeup today.” My makeup isn't an attention seeking type of deal, it is solely for myself.
My makeup is my makeup, not yours. So I want my eyebrows to look good because I love my eyebrows. So next time you are walking by someone with makeup, try to think of how good their eyebrows are, not saying “she has too much makeup on,” think about how good it looks. Admire the makeup, not shame it! Love it with us, because doing makeup I so much fun and I definitely advise you to try it some day. Maybe you will find out that you actually love it and then you will be thinking the same thing as me!
