Youtube introduced me to the world of makeup and through this platform, I was able to learn how to bake and contour, master a wing eyeliner, and highlight. A lot of the makeup artists on Youtube would rave about “cult favorite” items but they never talked about if it's worth the money.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

Everyone and their momma was, at one point, talking about this contour palette. Is it worth the money? Well, in my humble opinion, yes and no. Even though the powders are pressed powders, they are so finely milled that they melt on your skin, the shades are extremely pigmented and super easy to blend. The only downside is that you will find yourself using only one contour shade and one highlight shade, the rest of the pans on the palette will be neglected since they may not compliment your skin tone, so you’ll end up using ⅓ of the palette. Was this worth the hype? No, it was not. Too expensive for such small amount of product.

To be honest, this is one of the best makeup applicators in the market. This beauty tool has been hyped and raved about all over Youtube and for good reason. A beauty blender must be used damp so the water allows the sponge to grow in size making it so the makeup product sits on the surface of the sponge instead of absorbing it and wasting precious foundation. Apart from using less foundation, this sponge is edgeless allowing it to cater to all curves of the face, while applying an even coat of foundation. There isn’t an exact dupe for the beauty blender, thus it is one of a kind. This product is definitely worth the hype! Expensive but worth it!

The quality is high and the price tag is low! I mean EVERYBODY raves about the soft high-quality brushes. Morphe has synthetic brushes, goat hair brushes, and vegan brushes. Worth the hype? Yes! You can never go wrong with their brushes. The M510 brush is definitely a must have. It's the perfect brush to highlight your cheekbones! It's cheap in price and high quality, definitely worth the hype!

Even though Youtube is a great way to find out the latest hot makeup products, it also tends to overhype products. Or simply go to Sephora and ask for a sample, they’re free and will save you time and money.
