With the highest percentages in the polls, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made a campaign stop in Worcester, Massachusetts on Wednesday evening at the DCU Center.
The entire rally sold out, and 11,000 people were in attendance, making it Trump's largest event in Massachusetts to date. The event was so packed that 3,000 people remained outside, even as his speech began. "This is a very, very vocal majority, you have to keep it going," said Trump.
Trump briefly touched upon many of our nation's crucial challenges, including the economy, political finance, Syria, the terrorist attack in Paris, and Obamacare. He spent a large portion of the time discussing immigration, his plans to strengthen border control, and his plan to "build the wall." The video shows Trump talking about building the wall, and his response to "Immigrant Lives Matter" protesters.
Trump mentioned violent acts certain illegal immigrants have committed, such as the shooting of Kate Steinle in San Fransisco. The audience was extremely vocal, screaming and cheering, as Trump brought up the serious issue of illegal immigration. Trump stated that he does not mind people coming into our country, as long as it's done legally.
As war erupts in the Middle East and various other countries, Trump stated that he supports the statements of Republican governors who do not want to take in Syrian refugees. Trump followed up by saying that he's concerned that under President Barack Obama, more and more Syrian refugees will be allowed into the United States, increasing potential terrorist attacks in our nation. Faults were made toward the Obama administration for not taking strong enough tactics to contain ISIS threats.
Shots were fired toward his fellow Republican presidential candidates. He stated that Jeb Bush's campaign was finished, and brought up the violent childhood issues of Dr. Ben Carson. He, also poked fun at Sen. Marco Rubio, calling him a lightweight and joking that Rubio's hair is not as great as his.
Trump criticized his Democratic political opponents as well, discussing that Democrats are giving Hillary Clinton a "free pass," especially in regards to her email scandal. "She's being totally protected by the Democrats," stated Trump. "They've destroyed General Petraeus. They put other people in jail for doing five percent of what she did."
Bernie Sanders was railed against for believing that global warming is our nation's most severe worldly issue today, not ISIS. Sanders, even after the Paris attack by ISIS, affirmed that he still believes this to be true in the latest Democrat debate.
U.S. Army soldier Bowe Bergdahl, a deserter who was held captive in Afghanistan, was also a topic of discussion. Trump said, "Six were killed going after this bum." He then voiced his support for making sure that American veterans are taken care of.
There were minimal protesters outside of the building, in which the DCU Center had police, bomb dogs, and undercover officers securing the arena for safety precautions. There were three protests on the inside, and the police escorted the individuals out of the building.
Nearing the event's end, one protester was removed by police after Trump's comments on the overwhelming amount of Americans on food stamps. Confident as always, Trump stated, "It's amazing, I mentioned food stamps, and that guy, who's seriously overweight, went crazy," as he was escorted off the premises.
With a positive outlook on his campaign, Trump's Worcester rally was a success due to his immense support, reflected in recent polling. He concluded by stating that, "We will have victory," and that we can "make America great again."
