"Politicians are stupid."
"We need a businessman, someone who is going to tell the truth."
"Everyone tries to be politically correct. He’s different."
The election has barely begun and chances are you have heard at least one of those opinions being spoken about "the man with the plan." That so called man is Donald Trump. He has a lot to say, and boy does he know how to say it.
But standing behind him—promoting his message over the politicans who have worked so hard to be on that political stage—will get us nowhere. People are losing faith in America’s prosperity, but our country will lose any and all faith in its people if we continue to stand behind a man who is only looking to mock the foundation that we stand upon.
"But the politicians are so out of touch with what the people want."
True, Washington has lost its touch, but that does not mean it is hopeless. The politicans on that stage have worked hard to get where they are, and they have not done so by ignoring the people. There is a reason that they are standing before us ready to fight till the end to get the nomination: they hope that they can change a broken America. They hope that they can change our hearts. They are keeping their faith in us, in our potential, despite how much we have lost faith in them.
Now I’m not saying we have to elect someone straight out of Washington. But someone who claims to be “above” the political world, "untainted" thus far, is only admitting to be a hypocrite. When you stand in a national debate and preach your policies, you are a politician. When you donate money to campaigns across the nation, you are tainting yourself with the politics that inevitably come through one simple check.
"But at least he tells the truth."
Okay, sure. But when did the truth turn into disrespect? I am all for getting rid of the sugar coating in Washington, but when the truth turns crude, our beautiful melting pot is doomed. If fighting outside of political rallies becomes a social norm then what will happen on inauguration day? If a man who preaches hate through his words wins the nomination, then who is ever going to preach peace?
Someone on that stage feels called by the Lord to change America. Let's let them.
