Amongst much of the educated world, Donald Trump has reached a sort of pinnacle with his comical claims, one from which he no longer shocks people with the things he preaches. If you are one of these people, then I know for sure: you love Buzzfeed posts that make you guess whether quotes were said by Homer Simpson or Donald Trump, you can't help but share pictures that photoshop his hair onto corn, and amongst your social circle, Trump has turned into a comical figure—one that people mock, laugh at, and satirize everyday. My own favorite instance was when a British politician aptly described Trump as a “buffoon", (which, by the way, the Oxford Dictionary defines as "A ridiculous but amusing person; a clown").
Perfect, isn't it?
The reality remains, however, that Trump is still racing to take on what many know to be the single most important role in the Free World and so, while it is easy to laugh at the bewildering things he says, this becomes the very reason that it is imperative to remember that he doesn't mean them as a joke. And this sentiment is only reinforced by the fact that Trump has an astounding number of supporters who fully agree with what he has to say.
To all genders alike, the prospect of a sexist president should then not only be frightening, but something to fight actively against. While Trump’s rants against women began long before he ever ran for president, his sexist comments still continue to be made, and not surprisingly, he uses one of the world’s largest social media platforms to make a lot of them; a longtime favorite of politicians and celebrities alike—Twitter.
To break it down, here are just a few of the many alarming insults Donald Trump has made against real women, and sadly, no, Homer Simpson is not the author of these wonderful quotes.
1) Does anyone remember the time when Trump basically said that sexual assault was totally natural?
OBVIOUSLY, men + women in the same room = sexual assault.
Come on, "geniuses", get with it.
2) And how can we not talk about the most important woman in Donald Trump’s life? (Nope, it’s not Melania. It's not Ivanka. It’s Hillary Clinton!)
Donald Trump doesn't believe in "political correctness," so this is totally okay to say, right? And comparing Clinton's personal marriage to the entire country of "America" is completely logical too, correct? Oh, and I might I add that Trump has been married three times? It's like this tweet just gets better and better.
(On a serious note though, it's not shocking at all that Trump has used Clinton’s gender as a means to debase her, more times than I can count one hand. After all, what else can anyone expect when his biggest opponent is not a similarly misogynistic bigot, but none other than...*drumroll*...a woman?!)
3) And then there was the time Donald Trump commented on a powerful woman's marriage AGAIN! Second time's the charm.
Can anyone else recall a single instance when Trump responded to someone commenting negatively about him and didn't end up sounding like he was on the set of The Real Housewives of New Jersey?
"Haters and losers" for the win!
4) Oh but wait, Trump did make it all okay by explaining WHY he attacked Ms. Huffington in the first place...
It's okay, we don't know her as well as Trump does, so we just don't understand!
5) Seriously, though, if you're looking for creative insults, Donald Trump is NOT your go-to.
One second tho Donald...I think you just said it.
*Awkward*
6) Trump attacked essentially every woman with this one:
Yeah, the Time definitely planned this one out as a publicity stunt. How did we all not see this one before?!
7) And then there was the time when Donald Trump revealed himself as a fan of the Twilight Saga..
Women are all dogs and cheaters. Women cannot be faithful, and women cannot be trusted. Lessons learned.
8) It actually got better when Trump just kept going...
9) And going...
Don't have an "E News" subscription? Not a problem! Just follow @realDonaldTrump on Twitter.
10) And of course, Trump made an an entire series of rants about Fox News anchor, Megyn Kelly.
When Kelly questioned Trump on the many misogynistic claims he has made, such as the time he asked a woman on "The Apprentice" to get down on her knees, Trump naturally responded with a string of abusive tweets, nicknaming the reporter "crazy Megyn Kelly," and calling her terribly "average".So there you go, ladies. If you ever wanted a special nickname from Donald Trump himself, all you'd have to do is stand up against him.
Of course, Trump's tweets cover only an extremely small portion of the myriad comments he has made to demean women. From countless interviews to quotes from his own novels, these tweets are only a sample of the misogynistic way of thinking that he publicly propagates. And it's nothing short of disgusting.
I guess it's safe to say that at the end of the day, if Donald Trump does ever become America's next president, you're totally going to be safe as a woman. Oh, as long as you're not "unattractive", not having marital problems, not a "bimbo," above "average," not in the military, not cheating on Robert Pattinson, and willing to participate in Miss Universe. So yeah, I guess that makes most of us.
~ Thank you, Mr. Trump ~
