Who has sleek hair, mastered the pout, and is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?
This guy.
Donald Trump. A household name as the savvy businessman who was the host of "Celebrity Apprentice." More recently, known as the leading *shudders* republican presidential candidate nominee. Trump has risen to fame through the political campaign not through his excellent foreign policy and dreams for America but through offensive sexual and racial comments. The Republican candidate has been quoted calling women ugly and disgusting. And on top of these sexist comments, Trump has been very adamant about forcing people following the religion of Islam out of America and saying to “bomb the s--- out of ISIS.” Now, how this nomination came about, I have no idea because just from the surface of what Trump has done/stands for, does not seem very peaceful.
You might think “maybe all of nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize are a joke this year.” If we take a look at the other nominations, they consist of Greek Island groups taking in Syrian refugees, an escaped ISIS sex slave who is now a women’s right activist, and people who ended the civil war in Columbia. It is apparent that the other nominees are serious candidates. What in the world is Trump doing with them?
Since the presidential campaigning started early last year, Trump has continued to become more offensive and flamboyant with what he says during his presidential campaigning speeches. From what he says at his rallies to the GOP debates, it’s very apparent that Trump is not someone who is fit to be a leader of any country, much less be nominated for a prize meant for people who instill peace. Trump is a person who is solely after fame. He isn’t serious about being president and isn’t serious about being a person who is worthy of being a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.
When Trump was asked about the nomination, although very happy to be nominated, he refused to say who it was that nominated him. This is not only fishy but not a characteristic of someone who feels that they are worthy of such an award. I am hoping that this nomination is as big of a joke as his presidential campaign is because honestly, it’s offensive to those who deserve such a prestigious award and to the establishment that gives the award. Someone who does everything for attention, is not at all humbled by the nomination, and says literally whatever is on their mind (no matter how offensive) should never have even been given a nomination in the first place
