So it's set. Donald Trump is the GOP nominee. Many people are glad, but at the same time, many people are scared. I mean, what could he have done to be the nominee? No political experience? Check. Hate-filled speeches? Check. Fox News essentially turning into "Donald Trump News?" Check. Can the leader of the free world be a fear-mongering, toupee-wearing bigot? According to almost every state that has voted in the primaries, that answer is a yes. Will we have the first president with a spray-tan? We'll find out this November. In the meantime, read this article to see what you could be doing from now until November.
1. Get educated on the candidates.
Fellas and fella-lasses, there are more candidates than Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are still racing for the Democratic nomination. Also, there are numerous different parties such as independent, Green Party, Tea Party, anything you want. Know what you want in a candidate and know what each candidate is bringing to the table. Take a political quiz to see where you are on the chart and which candidate your ideals relate to.
2. Vote for...anyone else.
*Rant begins* I mean, really, what makes Donald Trump the best candidate? Yeah, he's a businessman, but he has many failed projects. Business openings even understand that Trump University was a scam. How does he stay so rich with all these failures and bankruptcies? Oh, because he uses the federal government and its laws to get him money after bankruptcy, like any other major businessperson. So, despite what Donald Trump (the man who does not prefer big government) says, he uses the federal government to stay so rich. He claims to bring jobs back from China and blames them for the decline in American success, but he is the one that creates factories in China to make products, like many businessmen. He has shown his bigotry through his rhetoric against Hispanics and women. He is the epitome of those who exploit this country and it's people for his own personal gain. *Rant over*
3. Get a brain.
Don't just vote for someone whose name sounds familiar. Don't vote for someone who has been in the news for what they say instead of their policies. Vote for someone who will change the nation for the good. We need someone who will help everyone from those struggling for rent to those being discriminated against for their gender. We can't have a president who ignores the needs of a demographic of our nation. We are all different and that is what makes American so great now. Donald Trump when was America fully great? Because I cannot find any year, era, decade, anything that did not have struggle for anyone who is not in your demographic.
We need a great candidate who doesn't lie 76 percent of the time. We need a candidate who actually gives money to veterans instead of coming up $5.2 million short. We need a candidate who promotes peace, not one who tells their protesters to fight anyone who has different views. We need a candidate who will bring this country forward, not back.
