One Major Reason Why Donald Trump Should be President

And then get promptly kicked out of office.

One Major Reason Why Donald Trump Should be President
Salon Media Group, Inc.

I think Donald Trump will make America great again, and this is why:

If he were to become president, I see him building a wall around the United States so that we can’t get help from the outside, which we need because our country is 19 trillion dollars in debt. Trump plans to run the U.S. as a racist, sexist, xenophobic nightmare. Forget what the founding fathers intended, Trump is a travesty to what America has worked 238 years to become.

This is exactly why I think Trump should be the next president. Barack Obama has been a lighthouse of hope in a sea of racism, police brutality and corruption. And where Obama is a lighthouse, Trump is a hurricane. While the legislative and judicial branches will try their best to keep Trump in line, I believe he will succeed at building his wall — metaphorically more so than literally. Trump will separate America from the many countries that keep us afloat. He’ll rip America apart internationally and from within. He’ll build his wall of hate around our borders and within our neighborhoods so that everyone is left to drown.

But Donald Trump didn’t invent the hate. The anger towards our government was already in place. While Trump has successfully manipulated his supporters, their hate toward the people he targets was already there.

The reason I think Donald Trump should be the next president of the United States is because I believe his reign will expose Americans for what we are: angry. Not a single person believes that the government is perfect the way it is, hence: “Make America Great Again,” because we are not great now. But have we ever been?

In the past few months alone, there have been many instances of black people being shot because of the color of their skin. This only accounts for the black race. But what about other minority ethnic groups? I grew up in Alaska; Alaska Natives have their own history of oppression, and Asian Americans, and whoever else whose family wasn’t rich and white when the United States was founded. The anger that comes with a history of oppression and discrimination already exists.

I believe that Donald Trump’s presidency would expose this anger and make citizens question what is so wrong with us that we could elect such a morally horrendous man to be the most powerful person in our country? Trump’s despicable leadership will cause Americans to be aware that we can’t wait for the president to “Make America Great Again.” We have to make it great ourselves. We, as Americans, must change. And it starts with acknowledging our anger and finding the root of what’s causing our hatred toward one another.

As for Donald Trump, hopefully he tries to build a physical wall around the United States during the first year of his presidency. Even though he plans to make Mexico pay for the wall, they’ll refuse, and the cost for American taxpayers will give the legislative and judicial branches legal grounds to impeach Trump and kick him out of the White House.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
