I'm so happy to be able to say that I'll be attending the Disney College Program Spring Advantage program 2016! I found out that I was accepted on Thursday, October 1st. I'm excited to announce this new opportunity on a platform that has given me so many awesome opportunities. During my time in Florida, I plan on writing my weekly articles as blog posts about my experiences in Disney World.
I applied for the Disney College Program on Thursday September 24th after attending an informational meeting at UW-Whitewater about it the night before. The same day I applied, I received my email about my web-based interview. After I passed through my web-based interview, I scheduled my phone interview. My phone interview took place on the evening of Tuesday, September 29th. I was shocked to say the least that I heard back so quickly, 2 days later, on Thursday.
Words cannot describe how excited I am to be working at Walt Disney World. I haven't been to Disney World since I was 3 years old, when I was very afraid of the characters in costume. Some of my first concrete memories are from my family's vacation to Disney; Cinderella's castle at night with fireworks, Chef Mickey's breakfast, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride, and all the stores filled with millions of stuffed animals.
Disney has been such a huge part of my life ever since I can remember. My parents honeymooned in Walt Disney World in 1990, so I was raised in a Disney-loving household. I've been watching and loving Disney Pixar films my entire life; my first Halloween I went as Minnie Mouse, and when I was 18 I went as Tinkerbell.
My job title is Quick Service Food & Beverage. I could be working at a food cart/stand and/or restaurant, and I won't find out my specific assignment (park/location) until I get to Florida. I'm excited about my assignment, because I enjoyed my time working at Texas Roadhouse so much.
I will be living in a gated apartment complex, where a shuttle bus will take me to & from Disney. The apartment buildings are very nice and I could have up to 5 other roommates. My rent will be automatically taken out of my weekly paycheck, which is so nice because I don't have to worry about it.
I arrive to Disney on January 25th and leave May 19th. I'm so thankful for the support of my amazing family (my Mom started screaming & crying when I called her over the phone to tell her the news) and thank you to all of my friends! I'm so excited for what the future holds for me!
