The Punishment Should Fit The Crime, Especially When It Comes To Animal Abuse

The Punishment Should Fit The Crime, Especially When It Comes To Animal Abuse

There’s a reason we put the lives of our pets on a higher pedestal. There’s a reason dogs have been labeled “Man’s Best Friend.” There’s a reason why dogs are the preferred pet and statistically why they outweigh the preference of cats (No, I did not pull this out of my rear). There’s a reason dogs are preferred over having children.

Because they are held to a standard of love no human can comprehend. Their ability to love unconditionally is something every human should strive to accomplish, but instead, nasty humans are taking dogs and tying them up and beating them with sticks, bats, and God knows what else. Dog abuse should NEVER be a trending thing.

I should never have to scroll down my Facebook feed and see videos of dog abuse. This should never be allowed. Shame on You Facebook for allowing this but also thank you for making me aware so that I may write this.

The dogs in the videos were so terrified. It was horrendous to watch them be helpless and defenseless. I can’t even imagine with fear running through their bodies. They couldn’t get away. They were forced to endure the torture and no one came to help them. The person holding the camera is just as bad as the person committing the crime because they were enjoying and laughing with the abuser.

I want this to stop! I want the laws to be stricter when it comes to animal abuse. There is a major difference between dog abuse and discipline. For example, keeping your dog alone in a room by himself for under ten minutes as a form of punishment is discipline versus keeping your dog locked in a dark garage all day every day without letting them see sunlight. That's abuse. Here's another one, keeping a dog locked in a cage and never giving them baths after they've shit and peed all over the cage, that is also abuse if you didn't know. If you don't have the money to afford a pet, don't get one.

These are some of the most precious animals known to humankind since before any of us can remember. This is not how they're supposed to be treated. All they want is love, attention, companionship, and did I mention LOVE.

If you ask me, I think the crime should most definitely fit the punishment. If you kill, be killed. If you cut off the ears of a dog, by all means, you will be deaf. If you lock your dog in a cage and never let them see sunlight because you refuse to take them out for long walks, the same should happen to you. Lets see how you like it.

If you kill a dog, implement the death penalty. This goes for killing anyone or anything. I'm sick of all of the violence in the world. There's too much now. The lives of dogs matter more than the lives of humans and maybe you should take a step back and think about why that is.

Since the United States loves getting in the business of other countries, let us go to Asia where all these dog abuse videos are popping up from. Show them, America. Show them the pain that we can unleash for abusing our loved ones, our furry friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
