At the end of the day, when it's a dog-eat-dog world out there, sometimes your dog is the only one you can rely on.

8 Reasons Why Dogs Are Truly A (Wo)man's Best Friend

All I did as a kids was talk about dogs, write about dogs, and think about dogs. You can imagine how excited I was the day I got one of my very own. It was from that day on I learned that dogs truly are a (wo)man's best friend. To validate that they really are a (wo)man's best friend, check out the list below.

1. They are always super happy to see you.

There is nothing better in the world than coming home to a dog that is so excited to see you. You just saw them this morning, but they act as if it has been years since you have seen each other. They are so excited that their owner and best friend is home that they can barely contain their excitement.

2. Dogs could care less what you look like.

Haven’t changed your clothes or brushed your hair? That is perfectly fine to your dog. They think you are beautiful and the greatest human being no matter what!

3. They will always cuddle with you.

There is nothing better after a long day then a cuddle sesh with your dog. This is especially nice when it is cold in the winter because your dog is like a little heater.

4. When you're sad/sick they always know how to make you feel better.

The number one thing I want when I am sick is not medicine but it is to be with my dog. I swear dogs know when you do not feel good. They come over to you and give you those eyes and will lay with you all day as you are dying on the couch.

5. They are like little furry vacuum cleaners.

When you spill food on the ground and do not feel like cleaning it up, no problem because your best friend and dog is there to happily eat the mess up.

6. Having a dog helps with your health.

Your dog is not only your best friend, but a best friend that helps with your health! It is shown that people with dogs have lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, fewer heart attacks, and they boost your mood.

7. A dogs love is unconditional.

Your dog would do anything for you and you would do the same for your dog. There is no other type of love like a relationship between dog and owner.

8. Dogs never let you down.

No matter what you need your dog will be right by your side. Bless my dog, every time we have a tornado warning I make her sit in the bathroom with me and you know what she does not mind because she is just happy to be with her owner (see below for a embarrassing selfie of my dog and I during a tornado warning). At the end of the day, when it's a dog eat dog world out there, sometimes your dog is the only one you can rely on.

There are so many more reasons why dogs truly are a (wo)man's best friend. I hope you enjoyed this list of just some of the reasons why they are.

In loving memory of my best friend and dog. I miss you every day!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
