11 Reasons Trump Should Resign And Allow My Pug To take Over The Presidency

A year and a half is enough to know my puppy, Vader, could be a better POTUS.

11 Reasons Trump Should Resign And Allow My Pug To take Over The Presidency

The United States has been on a steady political decline since late 2016 when a man-child was elected to be the president of these 50 states and various territories. From numerous sexual assault accusations, to garnering support from neo-Nazis and American terrorists, to touting false bravery and ignorance over Twitter, Trump has proven time and time again that he is incredibly unfit to lead the nation's 325 million people.

5 years with my dog, however, have taught me how great he would be at leading the country, especially in comparison to the current POTUS. Below are just a handful of reasons Vader the Pug would be a far better leader than the Donald.

1. He loves everybody, regardless of ethnicity and nationality.

Vader gets really excited whenever he sees people, never paying attention to what color their skin is or what country they may have originated from. He doesn't care! As long as they pay attention to him, he'll love them and respect them as fellow living being.

2. He's loyal and consistent.

https://giphy.com/gifs/election2016-election-2016-...

Vader isn't constantly contradicting himself, or changing his mind. How he feels about something or somebody one day is how he'll feel about it or them the next day, leaving the guesswork out of the equation.

3. He doesn't care what your sexuality is!

The same man who held this flag has failed to acknowledge Pride Month both opportunities he's been given since being in office. In fact, his Department of Justice was scrutinized for trying to argue that Title VII doesn't cover workplace discrimination for sexual orientations.

Vader wouldn't have pursued this.

4. If Vader could talk, he would definitely call out the alt-right.

https://tenor.com/view/charlottesville-gif-9499213

According to the New York Times, Trump repeatedly defended his original statements about the Charlottesville protests. He stated:

"You had a group on one side that was bad. You had a group on the other side that was also very violent. Nobody wants to say that. I'll say it right now."

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but this stance seems to include too much victim blaming and excuse making for the violent, alt-right perpetrators. A simple pug wouldn't have made this rookie mistake of worrying about "hurting feelings" on either side of the protest. Vader would have been blunt and called the neo-Nazis out on their bullsh*t.

5. He's never been accused of sexual assault.

There are entire websites full of the sexist and misogynistic remarks our current POTUS has made.

There are not entire websites full of the sexist and misogynistic remarks Vader has made (because there aren't any).

Coincidence? I think not.

6. He doesn't like golf, so he wouldn't waste valuable time on that.

https://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/02/donald-trump-bara...

Trump has consistently called into question how many times Obama played golf while in office, although, as of now, he's played 19% more often than Obama.

Vader doesn't have thumbs, so he couldn't possibly play golf. Additionally, Vader knows to mind his own business and not worry about what other grown people do.

7. People actually like Vader.

One of these faces is quite obviously more friendly and likable than the other.

8. He doesn't know how to operate a computer, so he couldn't become a "Twitter Warrior."

Trump has been scrutinized time and time again for his "tough guy" attitude and childish manner over Twitter, constantly picking fights and instigating situations he shouldn't.

Vader is a dog, and technology is beyond his realm of expertise.

9. He walks with us as equals.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/14/us/trump-walks-...

If Vader was President, he would've been walking side by side with the Queen, or slightly behind her, looking up at her with adoration and respect because that's what the president should do.

10. He acts his age.

Donald Trump is seventy-two-years old.

Vader is 5 (but thirty-five-years old in human years, according to WebMD).

Trump acts like a child, while Vader acts like most people I know in their thirties, yet another strike against the country's man-child leader.

11. He shows affection towards people he loves.

This photo was taken the day I had my wisdom teeth pulled; Vader sat by me the entire time I was in recovery from said procedure.

Would Trump do this? I'm gonna have to go with "no."

These are but a few reasons my dog, or any dog, really, would be a better President of the United States than Trump. Instead of #Trump2020, we should be chanting #Vader2020.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
