Do Not Let Other's Opinions Define Your Happiness

We have all been there, that moment when someone says or does something to you and it ruins your whole day and sometimes even affects your self esteem. It always feels worse when the person that caused these feelings is someone who you respected and cared about. We have all suffered through these moments, but there is one thing that I want to say about this hard situation: other's opinions and words do not define you, your happiness, or your worth.

It is very difficult to not allow the words of someone else to affect your day. Try as hard as you might, there will still be days that the cruel words of someone else will cause your self esteem and happiness to plummet. Do not allow people's rude words to affect your happiness because, in the end, the only person's opinion that matters is Christ. Christ is the one we will all answer to, so no matter what you have done, if you ask, Christ will always forgive you. People's words cannot affect or change that.

As we go through life, we should be truly focused on only what Christ thinks of us and not what others think of us. People will come and go through your life, some staying longer than others, but Christ will forever walk with you through your life if you allow him to. Put your focus on Christ and everything will fall into place. Allowing him to lead you through life means accepting his will for you. As he leads you through life, he will remove people that you may have been close to at one time and you may not understand at first why this happened, but as you continue and trust in him you will understand. He will not only take out the people that are not good for you, but he will bring in the most unexpected people. People you never thought would bring you happiness will be given to you by God, and you will cherish these people. Trust God to bring in the people you should have in your life, the people who will aid you in your walk with Christ and build you up instead of tearing you down. Putting all of your trust in God can be a very hard step because he sometimes will remove the people that you do not need in your life, and at first you may not understand because it may be hurtful, but in the end, Christ knows best.

Truly trust God with your life and decisions and he will bless you beyond anything you ever imagined. He will give you true happiness that you cannot receive from others because His happiness will be true lasting happiness.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
