Besides Kappa Alpha Theta, I am involved in a few other organizations. I think that being a member of other organizations along with Greek Life helps an individual get fully involved at LSU. I am the Community Council president of Herget Hall, and I am dancer for the Kappa Alpha Theta Dance Marathon team.
I recently joined the Theta Dance Marathon team, and I am very excited to participate in the big event. For those of you who do not know what Dance Marathon is, let me enlighten you. Dance Marathon is an organization at LSU where participants dance for 26.2 hours and raise money for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Participants must raise a goal of $250 in order to go to the big event.
There are many different ways for participants to raise the money: by canning, participating in many different Dance Marathon events, and encouraging family and friends to donate to their goal.
I am not asking you to donate to me, but you should donate and support your brothers and sisters. Every sorority is involved in Dance Marathon and a few fraternities. Help your sisters and brothers get to their goal of getting to the big event. Maybe next year you can even be a part of the organization.
Hopefully I have convinced you in wanting to donate and helping a friend or friends into helping a bigger cause. Now I am not saying donate the full $250 or even $100, but even $5 to a few friends will help. Go out the local canning sites and give whatever change you have in your car or wallets and donate to them. Donating $5 is cheaper than 3 finger combo at Cane's, so go donate!
