DJ Khaled isn't letting viral fame get to his head on his ninth studio album "Major Key." The Snapchat star rose to fame with his hit anthems like 2010's "All I Do Is Win" and 2011's "I'm On One". Now DJ Khaled is taking over Snapchat, where hangs giving motivational speeches and business advice. Khaled has also become a business mogul from headphones, cell phones, mobile apps along with being one of the most quoted artists of today ("Another One" & "They Don't Want You To Win").
"Major Key" opens with "I Got The Keys" which features Hip Hop mogul JAY Z & Future. Jay spits fire as Future delivers a chorus that will get stuck in your head. "How we still slaves in 2016?" JAY asks as he brags about his rags to riches life story.
"For Free" is a club anthem which features Drake bragging about sex and how he gives it better than anyone. Brooklyn legend Nas takes shots at Donald Trump on "Nas Album Done" saying, "Celebrity Apprentice is a devil show, Big up to Africa, Mexico." Big Sean and Kendrick battle lyrics on "Holy Key" and surprisingly Sean takes the belt. Sean's lyrics focused on police brutality and racism. "Everyday off to the races, can't fuck with you if you racist, beat your ass until your purple they can't even tell what your race is", spits the Detroit native.
Major Key brings a throwback back to life as Khaled samples the R&B classic "Lovers & Friends" by Usher, Lil' Jon & Ludacris. Nicki Minaj opens the sultry R&B anthem with hard core lyrics about a lover. Chris Brown, August Alsina and Jeremih take the way with their panty dropping vocals until Future and Rick Ross take over. Minaj closes the song with a small melody that no one expected and of course the Queen of Rap slayed.
Khaled taps New York's finest for "Don't Play Yourself." Fat Joe, Fabolous, Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss make appearances on the track. The album closes with a surprise collab with Wiz Khalifa, Wale and Meghan Trainor? That's right. The three create a powerful anthem, "Forgive Me Father" which reminds me of Khalifa's number one hit "See You Again"
"Major Key" is more than a piece of art, but a staple that represents Khaled growth and success from the last couple of years. "Major Key" is a major point in Khaled's career.
