Summer break is here, and with it comes sun, sand and hair dryness. If you're planning on spending the summer by the pool soaking up the sun, your hair could be subject to some major dryness. To combat this, I have my wonderful DIY avocado hair smoothie. It's so good you can eat it, literally.

The ingredients for this smoothie include an extremely ripe avocado, coconut milk, oils and honey. Combined, these ingredients provide nourishment, strength and moisture to your hair and scalp. The high moisture content in avocados makes it a wonderful candidate to moisturize your hair and scalp. Since avocados are also loaded with proteins and amino acids, these help to strengthen and fortify the hair, protecting it from future damage. The moisture and protein in avocados aids in promoting hair growth and revitalizing your hair.

Coconut milk is perfect for a protein treatment. It helps strengthen your hair and prevent damage. Oils such as coconut oil and olive oil help remove dandruff and penetrate the hair shaft to protect against further damage. Wheat germ oil is a heaver oil that treats a dry flaky scalp. Honey draws moisture into your hair leaving you with soft silky hair.

Here's what you need to get started:

- 1 ripe avocado
- 1/2 c coconut milk
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp raw honey
- 1 tsp wheat germ oil (optional)*
*If you're allergic to wheat, don't use wheat germ oil.

The amount of hair smoothie this makes is more than enough for my shoulder-length, thick hair. If you have longer and/or thicker hair, you may want to add another avocado to your mixture.

First you start by mashing the ripe avocado. The riper the avocado, the easier it is to mash. After years of using this as a deep conditioner, my expert opinion is to use a food processor or blender to get the smoothest mixture. If you don't have one, a fork or a whisk will do.

Next, add the coconut milk.

It's best to measure the milk and then pour a little bit at a time until you get the desired consistency. You may not have to add the entire 1/2 cup or you may have to add more. The end result shouldn't be too thick and shouldn't be too runny.

It should be creamy like a smoothie, hence the name hair smoothie.

Next add your oils.

When your oils are well blended, mix in the honey.

Voila! You're finished making your hair smoothie.

Now's the messy part: application. I suggest getting some towels and wearing an old shirt or no shirt at all as this will get everywhere. In the most efficient way possible, apply the mixture onto your hair and scalp. When the mixture is thoroughly applied, cover your hair with plastic caps, bags, heating caps whatever you have on hand. Leave the hair smoothie in your hair for at least 45 minutes, or two episodes of "Bob's Burgers."

When your time is up, rinse the mixture out as best as you can. Then continue with your normal hair washing routine.

The final step is to show everyone on Snapchat how cute and adorable you are with your super conditioned hair.

This is probably one of the cheapest and easiest ways to ensure that you have healthy hair throughout the summer. It's been four days since I've used this, and my hair still feels soft and moisturized so it works. I hope everyone tries this, and I wish you all the luck in your future DIY endeavors.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
