Millions of people over the course of thousands of years have seen the future through methods of divination. I personally do this through reading tarot cards. It gives me the best timeline of events in a situation. They have always been accurate down to the slightest details. This is a skill that is crafted but also is part of a natural ability. Recently and many times in the past, the cards have given me a less than happy glimpse into the future. Divination has predicted the death and downfalls of many, from the kings of England to military generals. You may ask then if there is the chance that we may see suffering and death, why do we even try to look into the future?
Firstly, natural abilities that most people do not have, such as the ability to see spirits or see the future, are not something we can tune out. Many report that situations worsen drastically if they attempt to ignore their abilities. Attempting to play dumb to what I saw as curses only brought me depression and anxiety. Instead, we harness and mold these abilities. We learn to control them so that they cannot control us. Someone with the natural ability to see spirits has to accept and learn about their skill or risk negative spirits wreaking havoc on their lives.
Second, divination is the universe reaching out and telling us to be on the lookout. They may tell us that the love of our life is waiting around the next corner, but we may miss them if we do not take a leap of faith. Cards may warn of a negative person coming into our life that we must beware of, and two days later a bad influence tries to become our friend. I can make plans, avoid situations, and grab hold of opportunities before they slip away.
Lastly, it helps us reach out to others and provide guidance. People turn to those with the skills of divination because they need help, answers, and a sense of hope. I can tell people that a family member will be ok and will overcome illness. I can warn someone to get out of an abusive relationship quickly before the situation becomes dangerous. As I said in a previous article; wise men and women were your original family therapists.
It does bother me often what I see in my cards. It takes a strong sense of confidence to choose to take hold and accept one's unusual abilities. I don’t have all of the answers, and neither do my cards, but with an open mind and the determination to make things right, all will be revealed in time.
