When Christmas day came along, I always wanted to see a hit Broadway show. I have seen shows on Broadway but I haven't seen a Disney musical since I was 5, I believe my very first show was Beauty and the Beast. I woke up Christmas morning with a lot of video games and pop figures and one envelope, saying I was seeing Aladdin on January 3rd 2016. Now i have seen the show, i'll be taking about the good and the bad.
What I like about this play is taking material from the movie, also the acting is amazing. All of the actors portray the characters from the movie. The costumes were awesome to look at, also the when the bring the magic carpet in I was amazed! The carpet was freaking flying!!!! No strings!! We need to acknowledge to elephant in the room, the guy who played Genie; he daps on stage. My mom screamed "HEY MIKE YOU DO THAT!!" Some people laughed in the balcony. Also Genie broke the fourth wall a lot and It was enjoyable to see. The acting was amazing, the scenery was amazing and walking in the theater looks like you were in the middle east.
Now for the bad! I don't remember if Aladdin had friends in the movie..It's been awhile since I saw it. If he did awesome! Let me know in the comments below if Aladdin had "friends" in the movie. Let me say the music is awesome! But I kinda dislike hearing a musical number out of no where. There was a scene the Aladdin and his friends were trapped in the dungeon and genie comes out and does a musical number of them escaping. It's not a biggy, but it's a meh. It took me out of the play.
What I learned from this play reminded me not give up on your dreams and keep pushing forward. I tell everyone who read this article review thing, everyone should pursue your dreams no problem no matter what. I recommend seeing the show and see the movie because why not? I give this play a 9/10 for awesome acting, music, scenery and Genuine having his DeadPool moments. If this show comes out of on Blue-Ray, like get that and watch it!! The play is good all time for Disney nerd and theater nerd, I'm LambChops, have a good day!
