Netflix and Disney, two of the greatest companies to exist in the entertainment world. In September, Netflix will become the sole streaming service with access to the latest Disney films. We were originally informed that this deal would be occurring back in 2012, but it has been released that the deal will be put into action in September of 2016. This is a huge. Movies like Finding Dory and The Jungle Book will be available to stream straight to you in the fall. These movies will be available after their DVD and Blu Ray Releases. This deal includes movies from Disney, Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Studios, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm.
Netflix is spending millions of dollars to have access to these movies. This amount could be over 300 million dollars a year. The rights to Disney films were originally given to Stars and HBO, however, with this new deal all streaming rights to new Disney releases belong solely to Netflix, which is currently the largest streaming service available. The goal is that not only will the Disney movies be more accessible to the public, but this will also bring more customers to Netflix.
It is not confirmed how these movies will be released. It is speculated that it will be a slow release instead of releasing all movies at once. This is probably for your own safety, as you'd probably not leave your house. This is absolutely amazing news to Disney lovers everywhere. You could potentially binge Snow White to The Emperor's New Grove to the new live version of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson. September can't come soon enough.
